The 16th "Chongyang Endocrinology and Metabolism Academic Conference" of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society was successfully held in Beijing

The golden autumn brings refreshing coolness and the osmanthus flowers are fragrant. On the occasion of the approaching Chongyang Festival, the 16th "Chongyang Endocrinology and Metabolism Academic Conference" of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society was grandly held in Beijing on October 25th. This conference, themed "Focusing on Geriatric Endocrine Health and Jointly Writing a New Chapter in the Development of the Discipline", carried out high-level and in-depth academic exchanges around the latest research progress, clinical diagnosis and treatment strategies, and the latest trends in the discipline of geriatric endocrine and metabolic diseases, injecting new vitality into the development of geriatric endocrinology in China. More than 200 medical staff from medical institutions at all levels across the country attended the meeting on site.

This grand event is hosted by the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, and co-organized by the Endocrinology Department of the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, the Endocrinology Department of the Seventh Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, and Qishan Hospital of Yantai City, Shandong Province. The conference adheres to the tenet of "inheritance, innovation, standardization and improvement", aiming to build a high-level academic platform and actively address the increasingly severe challenges of endocrine and metabolic diseases among the elderly in the context of China's aging population.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, Professor Lyu Xiaofeng, the chairperson of the conference and the president of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to the experts and colleagues who had come from afar. He pointed out that with the accelerating aging of our society, the prevalence of endocrine and metabolic diseases among the elderly has continued to rise, which has become a major challenge in the field of public health. This conference focuses on the cutting-edge hotspots in the field of geriatric endocrine and metabolic diseases, inviting top domestic experts and scholars in the field of endocrinology and metabolism to build a high-level academic exchange platform. After sixteen years of accumulation, the Chongyang Endocrinology and Metabolism Academic Conference has developed into a brand academic conference with significant influence in this field in China. He hopes that through this meeting, consensus can be further consolidated, the transformation of scientific research achievements into clinical practice can be promoted, and the overall prevention and treatment level of endocrine diseases in the elderly in our country can be jointly improved.

This meeting features multiple special reports, covering a wide range of in-depth topics. The conference invited Professors Tian Hui, Lu Juming and Li Chunlin from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, and Professors Xing Xiaoping, Xiao Xinhua and Yu Miao from Peking Union Medical College Hospital. More than 30 authoritative experts from top domestic medical institutions, including Professor Xing Xiaoyan from China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Professor Tong Nanwei from West China Hospital, Professor Gao Ying from Peking University First Hospital, Professor Li Qiang from Shenzhen University General Hospital, and Professor Feng Bo from Shanghai East Hospital, Deliver wonderful keynote speeches on hot and difficult issues such as "Reversal OR Remission of Type 2 Diabetes", "Weight Management in Elderly Diabetic Patients", "The Relationship between MASLD and CVD", "Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies for hypercalcemia", "Active Vitamin D and Common Vitamin D", and "Academic Progress in the Field of Thyroid".

The successful holding of this conference not only provides a valuable platform for learning and exchange for colleagues in the field of endocrinology and metabolism across the country, but also demonstrates the high attention and active actions of the medical community in our country towards the cause of elderly health. The conference effectively promoted the popularization and application of new knowledge and technologies in the field of geriatric endocrinology and metabolism, which is of great significance for standardizing clinical diagnosis and treatment behaviors and promoting the balanced development of the discipline. Looking ahead, the experts attending the conference unanimously agreed that in the face of the health demands of an aging society, the development of the endocrinology and metabolism discipline still has a long way to go. We call on all medical workers to continue to join hands and forge ahead, constantly enhance academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to improving the health and well-being of the elderly in our country and promoting the construction of a "Healthy China".

The third committee election meeting of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch was held simultaneously at this conference. Xu Xiaodong, vice president and secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, and Zhao Jicheng, deputy secretary-general, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting strictly followed the society's charter and the procedures for the change of term, and elected the new committee and leadership team: Dr. Yan Shuangtong, a chief physician from the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, was elected as the president of the third committee of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch. Professors Xing Xiaoping, Yang Tao, Li Qiang, Feng Bo, Tian Limin, Gao Ying, Xingguang, Chen Lili, Li Guixiang, Zhang Qi and Chen Huiling were elected as vice presidents. Zhang Xingguang is the director-general.

President Yan Shuangtong clearly stated that the new committee will always adhere to the original aspiration and mission of the branch, actively carry forward the fine working traditions and valuable experience of the previous term, and promote all the work in the field of geriatric endocrinology and metabolism to a new level with higher standards and more practical measures.
