From August 21st to 23rd, 2026, the re-election Conference of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the 2026 Academic Conference were successfully held in Yantai, Shandong Province. This conference, with the theme of "Gathering the Strength of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine to Jointly Create the Future of Geriatrics", brings together experts and scholars in the fields of geriatrics and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine from across the country to discuss the high-quality development path of the discipline and jointly draw up a blueprint for the development of healthy aging.

Subsequently, the election session for the new term of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Branch was presided over by Professor Qiao Yun, the general director of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society.

The conference strictly followed the society's charter and the relevant procedures for the election of new terms to carry out all the agendas. Professor Liu Yunxi, vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, first read out the society's approval on the preparatory work for the re-election of the Branch of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. Professor Liu Deshan, on behalf of the first committee, delivered a report on the preparations for the change of term, comprehensively reviewing the achievements made by the branch since its establishment in terms of organizational construction, academic guidance, and public welfare services.

The meeting deliberated and voted to approve the report on the qualification review of the candidates for committee members and the election rules for the second committee. The election session was presided over by Zhao Jicheng, the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics. After the election at the conference, the second committee and the new leadership team of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society were officially elected. Vice President Liu Yunxi of the General Association presented certificates to the new chairperson and vice-chairperson of the branch. Chairman Liu Deshan nominated the candidates for the positions of general director and deputy general director and presented certificates. The first stage of academic reports in the morning was co-hosted by Professor Zhu Haiyan from Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Professor Yan Xiaoyan from the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Professor Hu Guojie from the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. Professor Liu Cunzhi from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine shared his clinical experience in treating pain with acupuncture, fully demonstrating the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in the field of pain management. Professor Li Feng from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine presented "Clinical Research and Practice on Timed Diagnosis and Treatment of Insomnia in Traditional Chinese Medicine", sharing the latest research achievements in this field.
The second session in the morning was hosted by Professor Zhang Ying from West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Professor Wang Wenyu from Henan Provincial People's Hospital. Professor Liu Qian from Peking Union Medical College Journal delivered a special presentation on the theme of "Topic Selection and Strategies for Medical Journal Submissions". Professor Tong Zhanqi from the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital delivered a report titled "Elderly Health Care Should Vigorously Advocate the Integration of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine", elaborating in depth on the significant value of the collaborative model of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in elderly health management.
The academic report was carried out in an orderly manner in two phases that afternoon. The first session in the afternoon was hosted by Professor He Hailang from Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine and Professor Li Zhengguang from Qingdao Hospital of Chinese Medicine. Professor Liu Yan from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University delivered a report titled "Depression is the Leader of All Diseases, and the Heart is the Medium of All Medicines - New Thinking on Tumor Psychological Rehabilitation under the Integration of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine". Based on the theories of "depression" and "heart" in traditional Chinese medicine and in combination with the practical needs of modern tumor psychological rehabilitation, she proposed an innovative path of integrated intervention of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Professor Peng Min from Shandong Provincial Hospital shared "On the Integrated Application and Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approaches of Classic Prescriptions in Elderly Comorbidities from the Perspective of Three-Dimensional Syndrome Differentiation of Qi, Blood and Water", interpreting the syndrome differentiation and treatment strategies of classic prescriptions for elderly people with multiple coexisting diseases. Professor Qiao Yun from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University sorted out the academic thoughts and clinical insights of famous veteran traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in treating geriatric diseases. Professor CAI Jianchun from Yinan County People's Hospital introduced his practical experience in the conservative treatment of cervical spondylosis of the nerve root type with traditional Chinese medicine, combining clinical cases.
Subsequently, Professors Dong Jinhua from the Rehabilitation University, Zhou Jin from Shandong Second Medical University, and Zhou Hong from Qingdao University of Science and Technology successively delivered cutting-edge academic presentations.
