The 8th China Gerontology and Technology Innovation Conference and the 2022 Annual Conference of the Nutrition and Food Safety Branch of the Chinese Gerontology Society was held online on November 26-27, 2022. The annual meeting was directed by the Chinese Geriatric Society, hosted by the Nutrition and Food Safety Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, and co-organized by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital and Sichuan University West China Hospital. The conference attracted nearly 20,000 scholars from across the country to participate, providing an excellent learning platform for elderly nutrition workers.
Professor Fan Li, President of the Chinese Geriatric Society, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. President Fan spoke highly of the work of the branch and placed expectations on the development of nutrition for the elderly. Subsequently, Professor Fan Li gave a wonderful lecture entitled "Principles and Strategies for the Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases of the Elderly";, elaborated on the current situation of aging in China, and analyzed the principles and strategies for the prevention and control of chronic diseases and comorbidity of the elderly in detail, providing an important reference for maintaining the health of the elderly.
The conference also invited Professor Zhang Qiujian, honorary director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Geriatric Society, Professor Li Youping of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Professor Zhang Zhiqiang of the Chinese Health Care Association, Professor Jiang Zhengqiang of China Agricultural University and other well-known domestic experts and professors in clinical, nutrition, food and other fields to conduct a special discussion.
Professor Hu Wen, vice president of the Chinese Geriatric Society, President of the Nutrition and Food Safety Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, and director of the Clinical Nutrition Quality Control Center of Sichuan Province, made a keynote report entitled "Evidence-Based medicine Nutrition and elderly health promotion", pointing out that the emergence of evidence-based medicine nutrition is inevitable, and nutrition health promotion work challenges and opportunities coexist. We should continue to innovate and develop under the guidance of evidence-based medical nutrition, and give full play to the role of practical work such as dietary allocation in the health promotion of the elderly.
The keynote speakers of the conference focused on the national geriatric nutrition policies and management requirements, geriatric nutrition and mental health, geriatric nutrition and nutritional imbalance, metabolic diseases, gastrointestinal function and diseases, intestinal microecological management, healthy lifestyle, special medical food, therapeutic diet, co-morbidity, family nutrition and dietary management of the elderly, and other clinical frontier of geriatric nutrition. Share insights and research progress. The conference also selected 10 papers from 41 submitted papers for exchange display.
The experts at the meeting reached a consensus that nutrition and food safety are closely related to the health of the elderly, play an indispensable role in maintaining the health of the elderly, and are an important basis for ensuring elderly care services, ensuring the quality of life of the elderly and even effective disease prevention and treatment.
