2022On April 10, sponsored by the Chinese Geriatric Society Anesthesiology Branch, the "Initiation Meeting of Geriatric Anesthesiology" was successfully held online. The conference was organized by Tianjin Medical University General Hospital and co-organized by Aipeng Medical. Chief editor Professor Wang Guolin, Professor Mi Weidong, Professor Li Wenzhi, deputy chief editor Professor Min Su, Professor Wang Qiang, Professor Wang Yuelan, Director Shang Jun of the Medical Academic Editorial Center of People's Medical Publishing House, all editorial board members and more than 70 key doctors of clinical anesthesia attended the meeting. Professor Mi Weidong, Professor Wang Guolin and Director Shang Jun delivered speeches.

 

Professor Wang Guolin, president of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, said that China is gradually entering an aging society, and the "Healthy China strategy" pays great attention to the elderly. For the elderly patients undergoing surgery, the management of anesthesia in the elderly has been paid more and more attention. However, there are few academic books related to geriatric anesthesia, and the update is slow, and in recent years, anesthesia technology and concepts are rapidly updated and developed, and elderly anesthesia has its particularity, so it is urgent to write reference books for geriatric anesthesia. At the beginning of its establishment, the Anesthesia Credit Society of the Chinese Geriatric Society has focused on the compilation of professional books on geriatric anesthesia, and the experts of the branch have expressed their willingness to actively participate in the compilation of Geriatric Anesthesiology to provide important reference and guidance for the perioperative management of the elderly. Professor Wang also introduced the collection of reference books in the early stage and the work plan of the book writing team.

Professor Xie Keliang, director general of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, said that after repeated discussion and modification of the framework content and the compilation and verification outline, the preliminary contents of the secondary and tertiary cataloguing of the book have been collected and sorted out. Professor Xie Keliang has formulated the compilation arrangement of Geriatric Anesthesiology and confirmed it with the editorial board. The first draft of the book is scheduled to be completed in August this year, the final draft in December, and the end of December to the publisher.

Shang Jun, senior planning editor of the Medical Academic Editing Center of the People's Medical Publishing House, made a detailed introduction to the new requirements and problems of publication, and answered questions about the copyright of charts and the number of words in the book. He pointed out that the compilation of Geriatric Anesthesiology must conform to the principles of scientific, practical, instructional and popular.

In the discussion session, Professor Mi Weidong, honorary president of the Anesthesiology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society, led the speech, and the chief editors, deputy editors and some experts of the editorial board had in-depth exchanges, and discussed from multiple dimensions such as characteristics, progress, special surgical types, perioperative period and preparation level, aiming to improve efficiency and perfect presentation.

Finally, President Wang Guolin made a summary, he said that the launch meeting was successfully held, marking the preparation of "geriatric Anesthesiology" fully opened. The publication of this book not only provides reference materials for geriatric anesthesia, but also reflects the new progress and high level in the field of geriatric anesthesia in China. At the same time, he encouraged members of the branch and the majority of anesthesia workers to "forge ahead to write a Chinese chapter, build on the past and write a new chapter."
