The 9th China Geriatric Medicine and Technology Innovation Conference - Innovation and Progress Forum on Geriatric Cardiovascular Medicine, jointly organized by the Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society and the Union Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University, was held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province on July 7-8, 2023 in the form of online and offline combination.

Professor Fan Li, President of the Chinese Geriatric Society, and Professor Yang Yuejin, president of the Cardiovascular Disease Branch, attended the forum and delivered a speech. More than ten well-known experts in the field of cardiovascular disease in China gathered together to celebrate the event. President Fan Li said in his speech that the high incidence and mortality of cardiovascular diseases in China have caused a heavy social and economic burden. The Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society was established earlier. Under the leadership of President Yang Yuejin, the branch is committed to research and development in the field of geriatric cardiovascular disease and has made gratiling achievements in academic discussion, technical assistance, guideline consensus, scientific and technological innovation and other aspects, which cannot be separated from the efforts and support of all experts of the branch. The Special Representative of President Fanley would like to thank all the experts present, as well as representatives online and offline, for their support and participation in the convening of this forum. And encourage all colleagues in the branch to make continuous efforts to achieve greater development in related fields.

This forum is divided into two sections: academic lecture and case discussion. Prof. Yang Yuejin, President of the Branch, Prof. Li Nanfang of Xinjiang Autonomous Region People's Hospital, Prof. Xu Dingli of Nanfang Hospital, Prof. Li Xinli of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, Prof. Pu Jiilin of Shanghai Oriental Hospital, Prof. Tao Jianhong of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, Prof. Yuan Jinqing of Fuwai Hospital, and many other Vice presidents, Professor Zhao Xueyan, Director General, Professor Leng Wenxiu, Deputy Director General, Professor Chen Lianglong, Professor of Union Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University, Professor Hua Qi, Professor of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University and other well-known experts in the cardiovascular field brought special lectures, wonderful cases, and gave professional comments and discussions.

The academic lecture was an in-depth discussion by experts on the research progress, consensus and updated guidelines in the fields of acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, microvascular disease, anticoagulation therapy of atrial fibrillation, and prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases by traditional Chinese medicine. The authoritative interpretation allowed the delegates to have a comprehensive understanding and in-depth understanding of the latest guidelines in the field of cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment, and the clinical diagnosis and treatment ideas and end points were more clear and prominent.

 

The second half of the difficult case discussion, A number of experts from Fujian Medical University Affiliated Union Hospital, Xiamen University Affiliated Cardiovascular Hospital (Xiamen Heart Center), the Second Medical Center of PLA General Hospital, and Huazhong Fuwai Cardiovascular Disease Hospital conducted profound analysis and comments on six high-quality clinical difficult and rare cases, including senile valvular disease, ventricular arrhythmia, and cardiac amyloidosis. At the level of clinical practice, the standardized diagnosis and treatment of diseases are well combed and summarized, which is wonderful and fascinating, and presents an academic feast for geriatrics workers in the country.

The forum also received assistance and support from China Circulation Journal and the Bethune Psychiatric Research Society Cardiovascular Branch, and simultaneously broadcasted live on multiple platforms such as Central Video, Fuwai Healthy Life, Fuwai Online, Circulation magazine video number, Baidu Health, and Weibo Health, and provided long-term review and learning functions. According to real-time data statistics, more than 50,000 people watched the live broadcast online, more than 200 people participated in the offline audience, the venue was full, the participants responded strongly, achieved good teaching effects, effectively expanded the influence of the society, promoted the standardized diagnosis and treatment of elderly cardiovascular disease progress and development, and contributed to the realization of healthy aging.
