Editor's Recommendation:
Professor Wang Jinda, deputy director general of the Chinese Geriatric Society and deputy chief physician of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine of the Chinese Liberation Army General Hospital, brought a series of science popularization.
With the improvement of living standards, people pay more and more attention to health examination. Blood tests are an essential part of a physical examination.
Test results often have triglycerides higher than normal, some people get such a conclusion will be particularly worried, will be very anxious, immediately search on the Internet or to the hospital to consult the doctor, surprised why they suffer from high triglyceridemia? Will it cause coronary heart disease? Do I need to take any medication?
In fact, people do not have to be particularly anxious when they have hypertriglyceridemia. First of all, the causes of hypertriglyceridemia are divided into two categories. The first type is caused by family inheritance, and the level of triglyceride is relatively high, often more than 3 times higher than the normal upper limit. The second type is that under the influence of various acquired factors, too much triglyceride accumulates in the body, resulting in hypertriglyceridemia, mainly including greasy diet, poor control of diabetes, oral hormones and so on.
Secondly, hypertriglyceridemia has a certain relationship with coronary heart disease, but hypertriglyceridemia is not the strongest risk factor for coronary heart disease. The main risk factors of CHD include family heredity, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, age and other factors. Compared with the above factors, the influence of hypertriglyceridemia on CHD is relatively small.
Finally, whether or not you need to take medication is determined mainly by your triglyceride levels. 1. If the triglyceride is less than 1 times higher than the upper limit of normal, dietary structure can be adjusted to reduce greasy food, limit alcohol consumption, increase physical exercise and reduce weight, that is, the purpose of restoring the normal level of triglyceride can be achieved. 2. If the triglyceride is 1 to 3 times higher than the upper limit of normal, it is necessary to consult a doctor and choose a suitable lipid-lowering drug on the basis of improving living habits and weight loss, so as to achieve the purpose of restoring the normal value of triglyceride. 3. If the triglyceride is more than 3 times higher than the upper limit of normal value, it is necessary to strictly control the low-fat diet, go to the hospital in time, take lipid-lowering drugs, and strictly monitor the triglyceride level to prevent serious complications such as acute pancreatitis.
