On April 26th, the Public Health Service Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society successfully held a "Party Building + Free Medical Consultation" event in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province, with the theme of "Consolidating the Foundation of Party Building and Leading the Take-off of Health Services". This event was guided by the spirit of Party building, closely integrating the professional and academic advantages of the branch with grassroots health services. It brought warmth and health to the general public, especially the elderly, and received wide acclaim from all sectors of society.

The expert team of the society first came to Jiaomei Central Hospital for research and exchange. MAO Shoulong, the president of the Public Health Service Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics and the executive director of the Institute of Public Policy at Renmin University of China, and Feng Xiaoliang, the Party Secretary and Director of the Health Commission of Jiaozuo City, visited to offer guidance. Wang Jinling, Yang Yongguo, the vice presidents of the Public Health Service Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, Zhang Lianshan, the general director, Li Hucheng, Bao Ming, Dong Jianmin, and Lin Yong, the deputy general directors, also attended. Cui Zigang, the vice president of Jiaomei Group Central Hospital, Li Yanan, the assistant to the president, and the heads of relevant departments attended the event.

At the exchange meeting, President MAO Shoulong and his delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of the standardization and process-oriented construction of medical and elderly care integration at the South Campus of Jiaomei Central Hospital through listening to special reports and on-site visits and inspections. The South Campus takes the needs of the elderly as the core orientation and provides meticulous and humanized services in aspects such as daily care and medical nursing, constantly improving the quality of elderly care services. These measures and achievements were highly recognized by the inspection team. MAO Shoulong pointed out that in the future, all parties still need to actively cooperate, be courageous in exploration, continue to closely follow the main line of integrating medical care and elderly care, give full play to professional technical advantages, further expand the coverage of services, so that more elderly people can enjoy high-quality and efficient medical and elderly care services, and truly achieve the goal of "having medical care in old age, having care in old age, having happiness in old age and having peace in old age".

It is worth noting that the medical and elderly care integration model of the South Campus of Jiaomei Central Hospital adopts the "private construction and public operation" model. The hospital was invested and constructed by the listed company Longi Group and provided free of charge to the South Campus of Jiaomei Central Hospital for operation and management. The hospital is right next to the nursing home. Under this model, hospital doctors conduct daily rounds at the nursing home and provide regular follow-up services. The beds in the nursing home have medical treatment functions, achieving "original bed transformation" and effectively solving the problem of inconvenient medical treatment for the elderly. At present, the average age of the elderly living in this nursing home is over 85 years old. They enjoy a happy old age in a garden-like courtyard filled with the singing of birds and the fragrance of flowers, as well as a pleasant environment.

Free medical consultation benefits the people and conveys health care

After successfully completing the research and exchange activities, the medical expert team of the Public Health Service Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society immediately threw themselves into the free medical consultation and popular science work. In the outpatient hall of the South Campus of Jiaomei Central Hospital, a medical expert group composed of Chief Physician Bao Ming from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, Chief Physician Li Hucheng from Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, Chief Physician Yang Yongguo from the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Polytechnic University, and an expert team from Jiaomei Central Hospital provided professional and meticulous free medical consultation services for the elderly.

At the free medical consultation site, experts fully leveraged their professional strengths, providing professional health consultation services to the people who came for treatment with a rigorous academic attitude and rich clinical experience. They carefully inquired about the patient's medical history, meticulously analyzed the condition, and formulated personalized treatment suggestions. Meanwhile, experts have carried out systematic popular science education and publicity on the prevention and treatment of common and frequently-occurring diseases, rational drug use norms, and daily health management, effectively enhancing the health literacy and self-care ability of the masses.

At the event site, not only professional medical consultation services were provided, but also a special health science popularization zone was specially set up. After the free medical consultation, MAO Shoulong, the president of the Public Health Service Branch of the China Geriatrics Society, led a team to visit the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Polytechnic University to inspect the highly anticipated construction of the new campus. Yang Yongguo, the former Party Secretary of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Polytechnic University, Zhang Hongliang, the Deputy Party Secretary, Liu Xicheng, the Vice President, and Wang Pengchang, the Director of the Health Management Center, warmly received and accompanied the inspection and research.

The inspection team went deep into the construction site to experience the construction style of the new campus on the spot. The expert group listened carefully to the detailed report on the planning and design of the new hospital area, the progress of the project, and the preparation of facilities and equipment. They highly praised the achievements of the hospital in promoting the construction of the new campus in a high-quality manner. As a key component of Jiaozuo's "Thirty Projects" for people's livelihood, the New District Hospital project is closely related to the health and well-being of the people. With its "location advantage", "concept advantage" and "organizational advantage", it is bound to become a new benchmark for regional medical services in the future.

After the visit, the two sides held a symposium. In-depth discussions were held on topics such as "Party building leading discipline construction, informatization construction, operation and management, and expert introduction".
