From May 16th to 17th, 2025, the "2025 Academic Conference of the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society" was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province, hosted by the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and organized by Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. This conference features one main venue and five sub-venues, namely the special session for young and middle-aged physicians, inflammatory skin diseases, skin rehabilitation and health care, and skin tumors and infectious skin diseases. It focuses on in-depth exchanges on hot topics in the field of geriatric dermatology, injecting new impetus into the industry's development.

Professor Xia Jiahong, the president of Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Song Yongtang, the secretary-general of the Dermatology Branch of Hubei Medical Association, Professor Zhu Wei, the president of the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, and Professor Deng Dongfei, the executive vice secretary-general of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The conference was presided over by Professor Tao Juan, the chairperson of the conference and the director of the Department of Dermatology at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Subsequently, academic conferences at the main venue and various sub-venues kicked off one after another, presenting a series of splendid academic feasts before everyone's eyes.

Main venue (May 17th)

The first half of the academic exchange meeting at the main venue was co-hosted by Professor Zhu Wei from Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University and Professor Zhang Guoqiang from the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University. Professor Zhang Chunlei from Peking University Third Hospital, Professor Liu Yeqiang from Tongji University Dermatology Hospital, Professor Lou Fangzhou from the First People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Professor Luo Dan from Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital respectively focused on the hot and difficult issues in the diagnosis, treatment and research of geriatric dermatology, and proposed innovative solutions.

The second half of the academic exchange meeting was co-chaired by Professor Zhao Hua from the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital and Professor Chen Li from the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Professor Wang Hongwei from Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Professor Fang Fang from the Department of Dermatology Surgery, Hospital of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Wang Hongsheng from Hospital of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Professor Zeng Wen from the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University respectively presented their insightful views on the diagnosis and treatment of geriatric skin diseases through in-depth and easy-to-understand explanations.

The sub-forum on infectious skin diseases was co-chaired by Professor Zheng Zhenlong from the Affiliated Hospital of Yanbian University, Professor Yang Xiumin from Beijing Tongren Hospital, and Professor Kang Yuying from Shanxi Bethune Hospital. Professor Wang Hongwei from Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Professor Si Qingqing from the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, and Professor Qi Manli from Tianjin People's Hospital respectively presented their latest research academic achievements in their respective fields. The second half of the meeting was subsequently presided over by Professor Zhu Junrong from Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Sun Yi from Jingzhou Central Hospital, and Professor Lu Qiaoyun from Xiangyang Central Hospital. Professor Wang Shuang from the Second Hospital of Jilin University, Professor Sun Yonghu from the Affiliated Dermatology Hospital of Shandong First Medical University, and Professor Zhou Junfeng from the First Hospital of Jilin University respectively gave wonderful reports on the diagnosis and treatment of various common infectious diseases in dermatology.

The sub-forum on skin tumors was co-chaired by Professor Fang Muping from Xiaogan Central Hospital and Professor Fan Zhuo from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Medical University. Professor Zan Tao from the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Ninth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Professor Zhang Guolong from Shanghai Dermatology Hospital of Tongji University, and Professor Chen Rongyi from Dermatology Hospital of Southern Medical University respectively reported and shared the achievements they have made in their respective fields of focus.

The second half of the meeting was presided over by Professor Meng Zudong from Shiyan People's Hospital, Professor Chen Yongjun from Huangshi Central Hospital and Professor Xu Ganglin from Jingmen People's Hospital. Professor Wen Yujie from Peking University First Hospital, Professor Peng Bin from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Professor Du Juan from Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and Professor Zhang Yamin from Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology continued their academic discussion on skin tumors.

A Wonderful Review of the Closing Ceremony

Professor Tao Juan, the chairperson of the conference, presided over the closing ceremony and delivered a concluding speech. She pointed out that this academic conference on geriatric skin diseases focused on the diagnosis and treatment of common skin diseases in the elderly. The academic reports were extensive and cutting-edge, covering both in-depth discussions on basic research and inspirations from clinical practice. This conference was rich in content and highly efficient in form, providing a sumptuous feast of knowledge for the participants.

This conference brought together top medical experts, scholars and frontline medical workers from all over the country to conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on key issues such as the diagnosis and treatment, research and clinical practice of geriatric skin diseases. The successful holding of the conference not only provided a high-level academic exchange platform for experts and scholars in the field of geriatric skin diseases, but also injected new vitality into the prevention and treatment of geriatric skin diseases in our country. The experts attending the meeting all expressed that they would continue to work together, dedicated to enhancing the diagnosis and treatment level of geriatric skin diseases in our country, and contribute more to improving the quality of life of elderly patients!
