With the continuous acceleration of the aging process of the population in our country, mental and psychological problems such as depression, dementia and sleep disorders among the elderly have become increasingly prominent, putting forward higher requirements for the public health system and social mental health services. Against this backdrop, on August 22-23, 2025, the "2025 Academic Conference on Geriatric Psychiatry and Mental Health" was grandly held in Guangzhou, hosted by the Psychiatry and Mental Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society (hereinafter referred to as the Branch). Professor Fan Li, President of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, Professor Wang Huali, President of the Branch of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Professor Ning Yuping from the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Professor Wu Jinghong from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and Professor Yu Xin, honorary president of the branch from Peking University Sixth Hospital, attended the opening ceremony. During this conference, the "Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment of Depressive Disorders in the Elderly (2025)" was grandly released.
