Since its establishment in 2021, the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society has always regarded the skin health protection of the elderly as its core work direction, and has been deeply engaged in the fields of popular science education and public welfare services. It has organized a series of free medical consultation activities during the Chongyang Festival for five consecutive years. In September 2025, the branch continued its fine tradition and issued a call to all member units for the theme public welfare activity of "Developing Geriatric Medicine and serving the health of the elderly", continuously promoting high-quality medical resources to reach the grassroots level, popularizing scientific and accurate skin care knowledge among the elderly, and at the same time deepening academic exchanges with grassroots physicians to assist in the construction of the geriatric dermatology discipline.

The initiative of the activity has received an enthusiastic response from the committee units of all major regions across the country. More than ten provinces and municipalities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Shanxi, Guizhou, Xi 'an, Fujian, Hubei, Lanzhou, Chengdu and Yunnan have successively held 18 free medical consultations and health education activities, providing services to over a thousand elderly people in total, and truly bringing professional medical services to the "doorstep" of the people.

On October 24th, President Zhu Wei of the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society led an expert team to the Dermatology Department of Luhe Hospital to conduct a special free clinic. At the event site, experts provided scientific and accurate skin care advice to the people who came for consultation on common skin problems among the elderly, helping everyone establish a scientific skin care concept.

On October 29th, the free medical consultation site of the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University was crowded with people, and the atmosphere was warm yet orderly. The expert team listened patiently to the elderly patients' descriptions of their conditions, carefully examined their skin conditions, answered various questions, and provided personalized prevention and treatment suggestions as well as medication guidance for common skin problems in the elderly.

On the same day, the expert team from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University focused on the management of chronic skin diseases in the elderly. For high-incidence diseases such as psoriasis and sequelae of herpes zoster, they patiently and meticulously examined the conditions of each patient who came for consultation, analyzed the causes, answered their questions, and systematically explained the standardized treatment process and key points of long-term management. Meanwhile, experts also focused on popularizing knowledge about skin care and maintenance in autumn and winter. Their professional answers and considerate services won unanimous praise from patients and their families.

Highlights of the event
In the future, the Dermatology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society will continue to deepen the working concept of "getting close to the grassroots and serving the people", take popular science education and publicity as the forerunner, and constantly consolidate the scientific skin care awareness foundation of the elderly group. Taking academic exchanges as a bond, we will continuously enhance the diagnosis and treatment level of geriatric dermatology among grassroots physicians, and strive to build a public welfare service brand that is close to the people and has both professional influence and social responsibility, contributing more to the development of the elderly health cause.
