The Public Health Service Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society fully leverages its professional advantages in the field of geriatrics. At a packed lecture on traditional Chinese medicine health, experts, in light of the physiological characteristics of the elderly, used simple and understandable language and vivid typical cases to popularize the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine health preservation from dimensions such as dietary adjustment, daily living care, and acupoint massage, and provided practical adjustment suggestions for common diseases among the elderly such as hypertension and diabetes. During the one-on-one free medical consultation session, the doctors patiently and meticulously inquired about their conditions and took their pulses, answered questions regarding disease treatment and medication safety, and tailored personalized health management plans for the elderly and disabled. Professional rehabilitation masseurs, based on the physical conditions of elderly disabled friends, precisely select acupoints and skillfully apply techniques to effectively relieve muscle strain and alleviate the discomfort caused by the difficulty in limb movement.

At the event site, the Public Health Service Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society also presented 80 copies of the "Casual Talk on Deep Vein Thrombosis" health science popularization book, which was carefully compiled by the society's experts, to elderly disabled friends. The book, in the form of vivid comics, explains in a simple and understandable way the causes, prevention methods and emergency treatment measures of deep vein thrombosis, catering to the reading habits of the elderly and helping them systematically master the knowledge of disease prevention and treatment. The elderly disabled people who participated in the activity all expressed that they not only learned practical health preservation skills, but also felt the warm care from the society.

The rule of law provides strong support, and the protection of rights and interests warms the hearts of the elderly

To effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of elderly people with disabilities, the event has specially set up a special legal publicity and education session on the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities". The lawyer lecturer adopts a model of "case + interpretation + interaction", and combines common scenarios that the elderly and disabled may encounter in their daily lives, such as support and assistance, medical security, and rights disputes, to interpret legal provisions in a down-to-earth language. During the interactive Q&A session, the lecturer answered each question raised by elderly disabled friends one by one and provided targeted suggestions for rights protection. The staff also distributed legal publicity brochures to everyone, making it convenient for the elderly and disabled to consult and study at any time. This legal education service enabled the elderly and disabled to clearly understand their own legitimate rights and interests, effectively enhancing their legal awareness and self-protection ability, and building a solid legal barrier for the happy life of the elderly and disabled.

Intangible cultural heritage empowers and adds elegance, and culture nourishes the hearts of the elderly

The event also carefully set up "Intangible Cultural Heritage classes at the Doorstep", bringing rich spiritual and cultural experiences to elderly and disabled friends. In the class, the intangible cultural heritage teacher guided everyone step by step in creating paper-cutting works and patiently explained the techniques of paper-cutting. Elderly disabled friends experienced the charm of China's fine traditional culture through hands-on practice. Laughter and joy filled the air on the spot, and the cultural immersion added a unique elegance to their lives.

This "Guarding Rights and Sharing Health" themed public welfare service activity for the disabled is a vivid practice of the Chinese Geriatrics Society in implementing the concept of integration between the disabled and the able-bodied and caring for the elderly and disabled community. The event, through precise services in the three major sections of health, law and culture, effectively addressed the urgent and difficult problems faced by the elderly and disabled, and conveyed the deep affection of all sectors of society for the elderly and vulnerable groups.

Next, the Public Health Service Branch of the China Geriatrics Society will continue to deepen the service model of "multi-party collaboration + precise service + cultural empowerment", focus on the core needs of the elderly and disabled group, optimize service content, innovate service forms, listen to the voices from the front line, respond to actual concerns, and carry out more targeted and effective public welfare activities We should effectively enhance the coverage breadth and influence depth of services to safeguard the healthy and happy life of the elderly and people with disabilities.
