On the morning of February 2, 2026, the 2025 Annual Summary and 2026 New Year's Gathering of the Chinese Geriatrics Society was successfully held at the society. At the time of the conference, the Ministry of Civil Affairs officially announced the list of the fifth batch of "National Advanced Social Organizations" to be commended. The Chinese Society of Geriatrics was honored with this award, adding good news to this annual summary meeting. The leaders of the society and all colleagues of the General Association gathered together to comprehensively summarize the achievements and shortcomings of the society's development in 2025 and jointly discuss the long-term development plans of the society.

Vice President Chen Zheng presided over the meeting, and Vice President and Secretary-General Xu Xiaodong delivered the 2025 annual work summary report. It is pointed out that 2025 is a crucial year for the society to carry forward the past and usher in the future, and to improve quality and efficiency. Under the overall leadership of President Fan Li, the society has achieved breakthrough progress in four dimensions: Party building leadership, business innovation, governance upgrading, and people-benefiting services.

First, strengthen the political foundation for high-quality development by casting the soul through Party building

Learn to build a three-in-one development model of "Party building leadership, expert guidance, and platform support", and strictly implement the decision-making system of "three meetings and one lesson" and "three major and one important". The organization has comprehensively advanced the reform of standardized, refined and digitalized management, revised and improved 17 internal systems, and enabled over 90% of its business to be handled online, significantly enhancing the efficiency of approval. We have carefully completed the recommendation of the third batch of candidates and the summary of over ten thousand pieces of information. We have upgraded the publicity and dissemination matrix, and the number of followers and content views of the official wechat public account have increased significantly year-on-year. The annual inspection, relocation of the venue and asset management work were successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the stable operation of the society.

Second, drive the high-quality development of the industry through academic innovation

Adhering to the mission of "developing geriatric medicine and serving the health of the elderly", the 11th China Geriatric Medicine and Science and Technology Innovation Conference was successfully held, attracting a total of 31 million views both online and offline. Throughout the year, nearly a thousand academic exchange activities were held, with nearly 100,000 participants. Eleven new group standards (industry standards) were issued and awarded the "one-star" level of national standards. The "Research Report on the Framework of the Medical and Elderly Care Integration Standard System" and the "Medical and Elderly Care Integration Health Management Service Standards" were completed by the National Health Commission and received 100% satisfaction evaluations from superior departments and industry institutions. Led the compilation of the "Elderly Capacity Assessor" series of textbooks and included them in the training directory of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. "Practical Elderly Psychological Care" was successfully selected as a national planning textbook for vocational education during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and the application for the new occupation of "Elderly Psychological Caregiver" was completed. Launch the "Move for Health, Don't Lose Your Muscles" cross-disciplinary national sarcopenia prevention and treatment campaign for the elderly.

In line with the National Health Commission's "Action Plan for Promoting Hearing Health among the Elderly (2024-2027)", a series of activities including hearing screening, free medical consultations, and professional training were carried out in six provinces. The relevant content was spread over 142 million times across the Internet, making elderly health services accessible to more people. More than 20 demonstration units for integrating medical care and elderly care have been cultivated, and the brand activity of "Elderly Health Lecture Hall" has benefited ten thousand elderly people. In 2025, President Wang Huali of the Psychiatry and Mental Health Branch of the Society was awarded the individual award of the "World Health Organization" "Elderly Health Promotion Award". In December 2025, the joint research team from higher authorities highly praised the work of the society, commending it as "the vanguard of Healthy China, the guardian of an aging society, the gathering of heroes in geriatric medicine, and the reassuring person for the elderly", and fully affirmed that the Party branch of the society "has a position in political construction, is powerful in ideological construction, has a tangible organizational construction, and is effective in style construction". It is proposed that the rapid development of the society stems from "three goods" : a good president leads and steers effectively, a good team unites and exerts efforts, and a good supervisory department provides precise and powerful guidance.

Immediately, the colleagues present reviewed the development process and achievements of the society in the field of geriatric medicine over the years based on their work practices. They all expressed that they would always adhere to academic guidance, fulfill the service mission, and continue to strive for the development of geriatric medicine.

In his concluding remarks, President Fan Li pointed out that 2025, as the final year of this term, focused on the preparation for the society's term change, academic brand training, organizational construction and development, and the summary of ten years of achievements. Under the leadership and support of the superior administrative department and the unremitting efforts of all directors, experts and colleagues, all the work was completed very well. The Society has been awarded the title of "National Advanced Social Organization in 2025". This is the result of the hard work and dedication of all colleagues, as well as a reward for the trust and support of the competent authorities and all sectors of society.
