On March 21, 2026, the Third National Member Congress of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics was grandly held in Beijing. The conference comprehensively summarized the work of the second council, lawfully elected the new leadership body, reviewed and approved a series of important documents and the five-year development plan for the future, and sketched out a blueprint for the high-quality development of geriatric medicine. Leaders from relevant units such as the China Association on Aging attended the meeting and delivered speeches. A total of 515 member representatives from across the country gathered together to discuss the development plans for the industry.

In her speech, Lu Xiaoli, vice president of the China Association on Aging, highly affirmed the outstanding achievements made by the second council of the society in academic guidance, industry standardization, talent cultivation and social services. She pointed out that as the first social organization in China to win the World Health Organization's 2024 "Research Award for Elderly Health Care and Health Promotion", the society has been successively recognized as a national advanced social organization and a 4A-level social organization, fully demonstrating the responsibility and professional value of a national academic society. Make greater contributions to steadily advancing healthy aging and accelerating the building of an elderly-friendly society.

President Fan Li of the Second Council of the Chinese Geriatrics Society delivered the "Work Report of the Second Council of the Chinese Geriatrics Society".

President Fan Li delivered the work report on behalf of the second council. The report comprehensively reviews the achievements of the past five years: It has learned to adhere to the leadership of Party building, and the Party branch was awarded the title of Advanced Grassroots Party Organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Adhering to the philosophy of "establishing the association through academic research, strengthening it through education, building it through innovation, invigorating it through service, and running it in accordance with the law", the number of branches has increased to 56, gathering over 1,500 experts and more than 19,000 members, thus forming a national talent matrix for geriatric medicine. Strengthen academic innovation and disciplinary leadership, hold high-level academic conferences, conduct national research on elderly health, and release multiple guidelines, consensus and group standards; Focus on elderly health services, complete large-scale disease spectrum surveys among the elderly, promote the implementation of the new occupation of elderly capacity assessors, and undertake key tasks such as the National "Action for Promoting Hearing Health among the Elderly (2024-2027)" entrusted by the National Health Commission. Build a full-chain talent training platform to promote the downward flow of high-quality medical resources. Over the past five years, the society has received numerous major national and international honors and has made significant contributions to healthy aging.

Vice President Chen Zheng of the Second Council of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics delivered the "Report on the Preparation for the Change of Term" and the "Financial Work Report of the Second Council of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics".

The conference strictly adhered to laws and regulations, and voted to pass important documents such as the work report on the preparation for the change of term, the financial work report, the draft amendment to the charter, the draft amendment to the membership fee management measures, and the qualification review report. The third council and supervisory board were elected by secret ballot.

Academician Fu Xiaobing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering was elected as the president of the third council of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics

The first meeting of the third council and the first meeting of the supervisory board held subsequently elected the executive council members, vice presidents, president, secretary-general, and the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the supervisory board, and voted to approve the legal representative. Academician Fu Xiaobing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering was elected as the president of the third council. Cao Feng, Yu Pulin, Xu Jiaren, Xu Xiaodong, Hou Huiru, Liu Deshan, Shao Jing, Guo Guanghua, Liu Yunxi, Li Junmin, Wang Jingtong, Chen Limeng, Yu Zhen, Chen Qiong and Li Yaogai were elected as vice presidents. Yu Pulin concurrently serves as the legal representative, Xu Jiaren concurrently serves as the secretary-general, and Xu Xiaodong concurrently serves as the secretary of the Party branch. Chen Zheng was elected as the chairman of the supervisory board, and Liu Xuejun and Liu Rongyu were elected as deputy chairmen of the supervisory board.

The conference reviewed and approved the draft of the "Construction and Development Plan of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics from 2026 to 2030". The plan closely follows the top-level design of the country's "15th Five-Year Plan" and the strategy of actively responding to population aging. Based on China's severe aging situation, it clearly defines the development orientation and core indicators, and makes systematic arrangements around six major tasks: political guidance, discipline construction, standard system, talent cultivation, technology transfer, and service for the benefit of the people. It also strengthens four guarantees: organization, coordination, funds, and assessment. Provide a scientific action plan for the high-quality development of the society in the next five years. The meeting held a swearing-in ceremony for the new leadership team. The new team solemnly assumed their duties, promising to remain true to their original aspirations, take on responsibilities, and serve the silver age group.

President Fu Xiaobing delivered his inaugural speech. He expressed his sincere gratitude to President Fan Li, all colleagues of the second council, all members, founding predecessors and friends from all walks of life. He highly affirmed the historic achievements made by the society under the leadership of President Fan Li, which have laid a solid foundation for the development of the society. He stated that the aging process of the population in our country is accelerating, and the health demands of the elderly are diverse and urgent. The geriatric medicine industry is faced with both opportunities and challenges. The new council will carry forward its original aspiration and continue to strive, and carry out work in the following four aspects: First, strengthen the leading role of Party building, adhere to the norms of running the society, promote the in-depth integration of Party building and business, and ensure the steady and long-term development of the society. Second, we will adhere to the principle of establishing the conference through academic research, carry forward the academic foundation, focus on the cutting-edge of disciplines, deepen cross-disciplinary integration, strengthen the academic brand, and promote scientific research innovation and clinical transformation. Third, we will adhere to the principle of promoting the association through service, build a good home for members, center on members, care for young talents, and safeguard the rights and interests of the industry. Fourth, we will practice responsibility to strengthen the association, serve the overall national situation, closely follow national strategies, deepen science popularization and education, policy consultation and public welfare services, and transform professional capabilities into the health and well-being of the elderly.

President Fu Xiaobing stated that he will work together with the new council to fulfill his duties, live up to expectations, unite and lead all members to work in unison and move forward hand in hand. On the solid foundation laid by previous councils, they will create new glories for the society and make new and greater contributions to promoting the construction of a Healthy China and safeguarding the health of hundreds of millions of elderly people.
