March 12, 2026 marks the 21st World Kidney Day. The theme of this year's World Kidney Day is "Kidney Health for All: Caring for Life, Protecting the Planet". To thoroughly implement the "Healthy China" strategy and respond to the call of World Kidney Day, under the leadership of President Chen Limeng, the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society organized committee members from all over the country to join hands with their respective units to carry out various forms of public welfare activities such as free medical consultations, science popularization and education, health screenings, and interactions with kidney patients, based on local conditions. All committee members and their respective units have fully played the vanguard and exemplary role of Communist Party members. Based on the characteristics of the prevention and treatment of kidney diseases in the elderly, they have focused on the early screening and treatment of chronic kidney diseases, the concept of green medicine and ecological environment protection. The activity has received a wide and favorable social response.

According to statistics, over 1,000 medical staff members were organized for this World Kidney Day series of activities. Among them, medical workers who are Communist Party members played a leading and exemplary role, bringing the care of the Party to a large number of elderly patients with kidney diseases. The event adopted an integrated "online + offline" model, featuring various forms such as face-to-face free medical consultations with experts, online live-streaming science popularization, and community health education. It benefited over ten thousand patients and their families in total, effectively enhancing the public's awareness of kidney protection and self-management ability, especially among the elderly.

The committee units from the seven major regions of North China, Northeast China, East China, Central South China, South China, Northwest China and Southwest China responded positively and carried out distinctive theme activities.

A relevant official from the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society stated that the World Kidney Day event is an important platform for the branch to serve the society and contribute to a healthy China. Next, the branch will continue to leverage its professional advantages and the leading role of Party building, deepen cooperation with grassroots medical institutions, promote standardized diagnosis and treatment of elderly kidney diseases and the normalization of popular science, and contribute more to improving the kidney health of the elderly in China and reducing the burden of chronic diseases.

This event fully demonstrated the sense of responsibility and commitment of the Nephrology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society. With concrete actions, it interpreted the "benevolent heart of a doctor" and the "true color of a Party member", injecting strong impetus into the construction of an elderly-friendly and healthy society.
