To thoroughly implement the health and wellness work arrangements for the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, firmly establish and practice the correct view of political achievements, adhere to the people's health as the center, and actively respond to the instructions of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China's "Silver Age Action" on guiding professional forces to serve the elderly at the grassroots level, the Infection Management Quality Control Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society adheres to the leadership of the Party building Giving full play to the vanguard and exemplary role of Party members, with "serving the people by doing practical things" as the starting point and ultimate goal, on May 29, 2026, an expert team was organized to go to Fengluo Village, Linglu Township, Yongtai County, Fujian Province to carry out the "Party Building Leadership, Medical Care by Your Side" Party building + free medical consultation series of activities, bringing high-quality medical and infection control resources to the doorsteps of villagers in the revolutionary old area, and truly doing good deeds and practical things well. Let the grassroots people truly feel the sense of health gain.

The expert team for this event was led by Director Lin Fuzhong from Fuzhou First General Hospital, a member of the branch committee. The team members included experts such as Chen Huangying, Ruan Xianmei, MAO Zhien, Gong Linyan, Liu Fengmin, Gao Hui, Chen Liping, Chen Ling, and Fan Yumei, forming a vanguard team of Party members to go deep into the grassroots frontlines.

Free medical consultation services enter rural areas, and health care warms people's hearts

On the day of the event, the expert team set up a temporary free medical consultation point at the square of Fengluo Village Committee, providing on-site consultations in multiple disciplines such as internal medicine and surgery for villagers. They focused on screening and medication guidance for chronic diseases that are highly prevalent in rural areas, such as hypertension, diabetes, and bone and joint diseases. Meanwhile, the team demonstrated the "seven-step handwashing method" on the spot, distributed mosquito repellent sachets, health promotion brochures and other materials. A total of 78 people had their blood sugar measured, 81 people had their blood pressure measured, over 50 people received chronic disease consultations, and more than 110 people benefited from medical treatment. They also distributed 80 mosquito repellent sachets and 115 various popular science promotion materials, covering multiple aspects such as infectious disease prevention and control, hand hygiene, and rational drug use. We must truly bring the high-quality resources of "big hospitals" to the grassroots people.

Specialized training enhances skills, and "teaching people how to fish" promotes long-term effectiveness

After the free medical consultation, the expert team went to Linglu Township Health Center to hold a special training session on disinfection and prevention for village doctors in the jurisdiction. They systematically explained core contents such as surface disinfection of environmental objects, disinfection and sterilization of medical devices, and reporting and isolation of infectious diseases. They also analyzed common infection risks in rural medical institutions by combining actual cases. The team also delved into various functional areas of the health center, providing on-site guidance on hospital infection control and the standardized disposal of medical waste, helping the grassroots level build the first line of defense against infection.

Inherit the red spirit and practice infection control for the benefit of the people

During the event, the expert team visited the "Linglu Township Revolutionary Deeds Exhibition Hall" and revolutionary sites, reliving the red culture and carrying forward the revolutionary spirit. This event is a vivid practice of the branch's firm establishment and implementation of the correct view of political achievements, long-term implementation of the "Silver Age Action", and continuous promotion of "Doing practical things for the People". It does not engage in formalities or go through the motions, but continuously extends the focus of infection control work to the grassroots and the places where the people need it most.
