To thoroughly implement the Healthy China strategy, promote the downward flow of high-quality medical resources to the grassroots level, and effectively enhance the diagnosis and treatment service level of geriatric diseases in the region, on July 2nd, an expert team jointly composed of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases of the PLA General Hospital and the Chinese Geriatrics Society visited Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. The "10,000-Mile Journey for Elderly Medical Staff at the Grassroots Level" public welfare activity was carried out at Daqing Longnan Hospital. The event carried out all-round and immersive medical assistance and guidance through various forms such as lectures and training, teaching ward rounds, discussions on difficult cases, management guidance, special free medical consultations, and health lecture halls, aiming to enhance the medical service capabilities at the grassroots level.

Multi-disciplinary collaboration for precise guidance and accurate empowerment to strengthen the grassroots level

The expert team conducts specialized guidance by discipline and field. Professor Cao Feng, executive vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics and director of the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases at the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, led experts from the departments of cardiology and gastroenterology to conduct teaching ward rounds in the wards of these departments. They organized special discussions on difficult cases with multiple coexisting diseases and complex conditions, sorted out the diagnosis and treatment ideas one by one, and refined individualized treatment and rehabilitation management plans. It has effectively broadened the diagnosis and treatment thinking of grassroots medical staff.

Researcher Liu Yunxi, vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, and Professor Zeng Qiang, deputy director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, respectively visited the Infection Management Department and the Health Management Center to provide specialized guidance on the prevention and control of nosocomial infections and the standardization of health screening. The expert team also provided on-site guidance on the refined management and standardized construction of hospitals, helping grassroots hospitals consolidate their management foundation.

Free medical consultations and science popularization benefit people's livelihood, and health management strengthens the foundation

During the event, a free endocrinology clinic will be held to provide personalized health guidance plans and health science popularization for local residents, popularize knowledge on chronic disease prevention and control as well as scientific health preservation, allowing the public to enjoy the considerate services of a national-level expert team right at their doorstep. Professor Zeng Qiang, the deputy director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, delivered a health lecture on weight management. Over a hundred employee representatives from local government agencies and enterprises attended the lecture on site, and more than ten thousand people listened online.
