From July 11th to 12th, 2026, the National "Action for Promoting Hearing Health among the Elderly (2024-2027)" series of training and free medical consultation public welfare activities (Yinchuan Station) was successfully held in Yinchuan, Ningxia, known as the "Phoenix City". The event is guided by the Department of Aging Health of the National Health Commission, hosted by the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, organized by the Ear Science Branch, and co-organized by units such as the First People's Hospital of Yinchuan. It aims to bring high-quality national medical resources to the northwest region, effectively respond to the core demands of the elderly for hearing health, and inject strong impetus into the implementation of the healthy aging strategy.

As the eighth stop of this initiative, Yinchuan Station, based on the characteristics of the elderly population in the northwest region and the actual situation at the grassroots level, has optimized the four major sections of "science popularization and education, screening and intervention, professional training, and public welfare services", and is striving to build a full-chain service network covering screening, intervention, and follow-up, promoting the localization and normalization of elderly hearing health services.

Free medical consultations benefit the people, and services reach the front line of the community directly. On the afternoon of July 11th, a free medical consultation event kicked off in the Great Wall Garden Community. Eleven national ear experts provided one-on-one health consultations and hearing assessments for over 140 elderly people aged 65 and above. The accompanying audiologists completed free audiological tests for more than 80 elderly people. On-site, science popularization and education were carried out simultaneously, and health handbooks were distributed. The expert team not only accurately assessed the hearing condition but also formulated personalized intervention plans and taught scientific ear usage knowledge step by step. The elderly people all expressed that the expert team's "door-to-door" service not only clarified the problems but also warmed their hearts.

Empower through training and forge backbone forces at the grassroots level. On the morning of July 12th, a series of training meetings were held. Leaders from the Aging Health Department of the Health Commission of Ningxia Autonomous Region, the Health Commission of Yinchuan City, and the First People's Hospital of Yinchuan City delivered speeches successively, emphasizing the significant importance of this event in enhancing the regional hearing health service level and addressing the shortcomings of early screening and diagnosis at the grassroots level. Professor Wang Qiuju, the director of the Ear Science Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, reviewed the progress of the national action and called on all sectors of society to pay attention to the cause of elderly hearing together. Subsequently, renowned domestic ear experts conducted systematic training on core contents such as the latest progress in the diagnosis and treatment of senile hearing loss, hearing aid fitting, and hearing screening standards. Through theoretical lectures, case analyses, and interactive Q&A sessions, the practical abilities of the participating medical staff were effectively enhanced, cultivating a group of hearing health backbone personnel who are rooted in the grassroots for Ningxia.

Focus on the present and look to the future. The successful conclusion of Yinchuan Station is a vivid practice of the Healthy China strategy in the northwest hinterland and a powerful testament to the precise allocation of high-quality medical resources. The Chinese Society of Geriatrics will continue to work hand in hand with all parties, sort out and refine experiences from various regions, continuously optimize the working mechanism, and promote a more balanced layout and deeper rooting of elderly hearing health services. Let "Listening to the sounds of all things and enjoying a wonderful life" move from a vision to reality, helping the elderly enjoy a clear, dignified and quality life in their later years, and contributing more to actively responding to population aging.
