From July 24th to 26th, 2026, the re-election meeting of the General Practice Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the 6th Academic Conference were successfully held in Haikou City, Hainan Province. This conference is hosted by the General Practice Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, organized by Hainan Provincial People's Hospital, and co-organized by the Respiratory Disease Prevention and Control Professional Committee of the Hainan Preventive Medicine Association. The conference, themed "General Practice Foundation, Guarding the Silver Age, and Health and Longevity", brought together experts from across the country in the fields of geriatrics, general practice, primary care, and medical and elderly care integration to conduct in-depth discussions on the integration of disciplines, the improvement of grassroots capabilities, and the construction of a full-cycle health service system.

The leadership transition conference: Carrying forward the past and ushering in the future, consolidating the organizational foundation
The term change meeting was presided over by Professor Li Shuangqing, vice president of the General Practice Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society.

First, Professor Wang Jingtong, vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, read out the approval of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics on the preparation for the change of term of the General Practice Branch.

Professor Feng Mei from Shanxi Bethune Hospital, the first chairperson of the branch, made a comprehensive summary of the work of the first committee and gave a detailed report on the preparations for the change of term and the structure of the new committee.

Subsequently, the election for the new term was presided over by Zhao Jicheng, the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics. After democratic election, the leadership team of the second committee of the General Practice Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society was officially elected: Professor Feng Mei was elected as the chairperson, and Professors Ding Yipeng, Li Shuangqing, Luo Leiming, Qiao Fan, Huang Min, Wang Shuang, Zheng Chunyan, Yao Chenjiao and Wei Yanan were elected as vice-chairpersons. The branch has appointed Professors Guo Yuan and Fang Zhili as advisors. Li Xiaojing serves as the Director-General, while Wang Jianhua, Jiang Juan and Wang Xiaoxu are appointed as deputy Director-General.

After the election for the new term, the new committee held its first plenary meeting. Professor Feng Mei, the chairperson of the branch, in light of the requirements of China's Healthy China construction and healthy aging policies, and in accordance with the deployment of the "15th Five-Year Plan" for strengthening the foundation of medical and health care, clearly stated that the next stage of work will focus on four key areas: Strengthen the cross-disciplinary collaboration mechanism, promote the penetration of cutting-edge technologies to the grassroots level, enhance the service capabilities of the grassroots, deepen the innovation of the medical and elderly care integration model, and continuously promote the standardized construction and high-quality development of geriatric general practice.
Academic Conference: Focusing on cross-integration, Anchoring key issues in geriatric general practice
The 6th Academic Conference was grandly held in Haikou from July 25th to 26th, 2026. The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Tong Shan, the leading figure of the General Practice Department of Hainan Provincial People's Hospital. Professor Wang Jingtong, vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, attended and provided guidance. Deputy Secretary Fan Lichun of Hainan Provincial People's Hospital delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the organizing committee. This conference, themed "General Practice Foundation, Guarding Silver Age, and Healthy Longevity", focuses on the core topic of the integrated development of geriatrics and general practice to promote healthy aging. It has specially invited domestic authoritative experts and scholars such as Wang Jingtong, Fang Zhili, Guo Yuan, Feng Mei, Ding Yipeng, and Huang Min to gather together. From a multi-disciplinary perspective and multi-level dimensions, it presented a high-level academic feast for grassroots general practitioners.
The meeting was rich in content and full of highlights: Professor Wang Jingtong profoundly expounded on the crucial role of intestinal microecology in the full-cycle health management of the elderly. Professor Fang Zhili systematically sorted out the general diagnosis and treatment pathways and rational drug use strategies for comorbidities in the elderly. Professor Guo Yuan has proposed a new idea for precise anti-aging management of cardiovascular diseases. Professor Feng Mei provided an in-depth interpretation of the "Standards for Elderly Health Services Based on Longevity Medicine", offering authoritative guidance for clinical practice. Professor Wang Limin vividly imparted practical wisdom on traditional Chinese medicine for health preservation and anti-aging. Professor Wei Yanan conducted an in-depth analysis of the key points for the prevention and treatment of senile frailty and sarcopenia. Professor Ding Yipeng presented a cutting-edge model of digital technology empowering the management of chronic respiratory diseases at the grassroots level.
In addition, the conference also conducted in-depth exchanges on hot topics such as the application of smart healthcare, innovative practices of integrating medical care and elderly care, the construction of scientific research capabilities, and the development of grassroots bases. It formed a full-chain coverage from macro policy guidance to the implementation of grassroots technologies, providing solid support and strong guarantee for comprehensively enhancing the comprehensive service capabilities of grassroots general practitioners in responding to the challenges of population aging.

The conference report session was respectively presided over by Professor Feng Mei, the chairperson, Professor Ding Yipeng, the vice-chairperson, and Professors Tong Shan and Su Qiaoli, the standing committee members. The experts attending the meeting engaged in in-depth exchanges on the frontiers of the discipline and grassroots practices, fully demonstrating the latest progress and rich achievements of geriatric general practice in China in areas such as interdisciplinary integration, innovation in grassroots service models, and application of smart healthcare.

The successful convening of this conference marks the official assumption of new duties by the second committee of the General Practice Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society. It will accelerate the implementation of an integrated service model covering the entire chain of "prevention - diagnosis and treatment - rehabilitation - long-term care", injecting strong impetus into achieving the overall goal of health and longevity, actively responding to population aging, and continuously enhancing the capacity of elderly health services at the grassroots level.
