Oncology Branch of Chinese Geriatric Society Launches Patient Education Activity of "Protecting Health, You and I Walk Together-The 29th National Cancer Prevention and Control Publicity Week"

April 15-21 is the 29th National Cancer Prevention and Treatment Awareness Week. It was jointly sponsored by the Oncology Branch of Chinese Geriatric Society, the Biological Therapy Professional Committee of Liaoning Anti-Cancer Association, the Preventive Medical Association of Liaoning Province, and the Tumor Nutrition Therapy Professional Committee of Liaoning Nutrition Society. Under the leadership of Professor Liu Yunpeng, President of the Oncology Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, the offline and synchronous live webcast patient education activity organized by the Department of Oncology of the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University was successfully held. The purpose of this activity is to help more cancer patients establish confidence in cancer, bravely face the disease, actively accept treatment, and get better benefits; At the same time, enhance the public's understanding of the concept of scientific cancer prevention, establish a healthy lifestyle, and achieve effective prevention and control of cancer.


The theme of this patient teaching is ";Cancer prevention and treatment, focusing on integration, protecting health, you and I walk together";. The event began with a speech by Professor Qu Xiujuan, director general of the Oncology Branch of the Chinese Geriatric Society and director of the Medical Oncology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. Professor Qu Xiujuan expressed her gratitude to the patients and their families for their active participation. Professor Qu Xiujuan stressed that the diagnosis and treatment of cancer not only requires skilled doctors, but also patients and their families who have a correct understanding of the relevant knowledge of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. In the process of tumor treatment, doctors and patients need to fully trust and communicate with each other, and formulate individualized integrated diagnosis and treatment plans according to each patient's situation to achieve optimal integrated diagnosis and treatment results.


This patient education activity centered on the hot issues of concern to patients, from the "prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and health"; of lung cancer - breast cancer - digestive tract tumors. Professor Jin Bo, Professor Teng Yuee and Professor Qu Jinglei respectively presided over the teaching activities in each sub-venue. Professor Wang Yan, Professor Wang Shuo, Professor Luo Ying, Professor Zhao Lei, Professor Li Aodi, Professor Shi Jing, Professor Qu Jinglei and Professor Tengzan introduced the relevant knowledge of cancer treatment from the perspective of lung cancer, breast cancer and digestive tract tumor treatment and rehabilitation nutrition, so that patients can correctly understand the disease and realize the importance of comprehensive treatment. Head Nurse Zhang Xinping from the Nursing Department and Head Nurse Liu Yang from the Medical Oncology Department gave a detailed introduction to the home nursing and PICC nursing knowledge of cancer patients. While teaching anti-cancer knowledge, they passed on love and hope and enhanced the confidence of patients, their families and medical staff to overcome the disease together.



The last part of the activity was the on-site Q&A. The scene was warm and the interaction was frequent. The attending doctors and professors of various medical oncology treatment groups answered questions for the majority of patients on the scene. After the meeting, many patients and their families affirmed the activity, saying that the trip was worthwhile and fruitful.
