On the morning of April 19, 2025, the "2025 Academic Conference on New Advances in Cognitive Impairment Diagnosis and Treatment and Standing Committee Meeting" was successfully held in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, hosted by the Cognitive Impairment Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics (ACDC) and organized by Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital. This conference, with the theme of "Exploring Cutting-edge Technologies and Jointly Building a Cognitive Health Defense Line", focuses on the latest progress in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, vascular cognitive impairment and other fields, aiming to promote the improvement of cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment levels in China and support the implementation of the healthy aging strategy.
Before the academic conference was held, the Cognitive Impairment Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society held a standing committee meeting. The meeting was presided over by the General Director Wang Yongjun. Standing Committee members such as President Jia Jianjun, Vice Presidents Zhang Junjian, Ning Yuping, Wei Cuibai and Cao Yunpeng attended the meeting. The meeting mainly conveyed the relevant spirit of the 2024 annual work summary and 2025 annual work plan of the General Association, and discussed the 2025 work plan of the branch, including strengthening professional construction, promoting scientific research and academic cooperation, preparing for the annual academic conference and related exchanges, and implementing the membership fee management system, etc. The Standing committee members attending the meeting unanimously agreed to enhance the intensity of popular science publicity, promote the compilation of consensus and guidelines, and actively explore new paths for the development of the branch in the digital age, laying a solid foundation for the continuous development of the cause of cognitive impairment.
The opening ceremony of the "2025 Academic Conference on New Advances in Cognitive Impairment Diagnosis and Treatment" was presided over by Professor Chen Qingling, a standing committee member of the Cognitive Impairment Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics. Professor Jia Jianjun, the president of the Cognitive Impairment Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, and Professor Diao Fangfang, the Party Secretary of Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital, delivered speeches respectively, extending a warm welcome to the experts and scholars present and emphasizing the significance of research on the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairment. They called for strengthening multi-disciplinary collaboration to jointly promote the innovative development of cognitive medicine.
During the conference, experts and scholars from top medical institutions across the country delivered seven special reports on the cutting-edge topics of cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment. Professor Wei Cuibai from Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, systematically expounded on the latest breakthroughs in molecular imaging research of Alzheimer's disease. Professor Shen Lu from Xiangya Hospital of Central South University conducted an in-depth analysis of the clinical application prospects of blood biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease. Professor Liu Jun from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University comprehensively reviewed the progress of international new drug research and development for cognitive impairment in 2024. Professor Zhang Junjian from Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University innovatively proposed an integrated diagnosis and treatment plan for vascular cognitive impairment. Professor Yang Yun from Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital focused on introducing the practical experience of the multidisciplinary Collaboration (MDT) model. Professor Jia Jianjun from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army has made a forward-looking outlook on the development direction of basic research on Alzheimer's disease.
The meeting was respectively presided over by Professor Wei Wenshi, Professor Gu Ping, Professor Cao Yunpeng, Professor Ning Yuping, Professor CAI Pan, Professor Wang Yongjun and others, who gave wonderful comments on the reports of each expert. The closing ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Wang Yongjun, the general director of the Cognitive Impairment Branch. He highly praised the academic achievements of this conference and looked forward to more in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the field of cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment in the future.
This conference attracted over 200 experts and scholars from all over the country. Through in-depth discussions on the latest research progress and clinical practices in the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairment, it provided important references for promoting the development of cognitive medicine in China and contributed wisdom and strength to improving the cognitive health level of the elderly population.
After the meeting, the experts in attendance visited the red education base for study and learning. At the former site of the Soochow University Conference, experts reviewed the arduous journey of the revolutionary predecessors. At the History Museum of the Central Revolutionary Base Area, through precious cultural relics and historical materials, we gained an in-depth understanding of the glorious history of the Communist Party of China leading the people in revolutionary struggles. This red education activity not only enhanced the sense of mission and responsibility of the experts, but also injected spiritual impetus into promoting the construction of a Healthy China.
