I. Discipline Leadership: Building a High-level Academic Platform
Professor Guo Guanghua pointed out in his report that the Burn and Trauma Branch has always taken promoting the development of the discipline of elderly burn and trauma treatment and wound repair as its core goal. The branch builds a high-level exchange platform for experts in the field by holding a national academic conference every year. Last September, the 10th Academic Conference successfully held at the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University set a record as "the largest and most extensive national academic conference on wound repair and regeneration in Wenzhou's history". The experts attending the conference covered multiple disciplines including burns, trauma, plastic surgery, rehabilitation, and geriatrics.
In September this year, the branch will hold the 11th Academic Conference and the 10th anniversary review event of the Burn and Trauma Branch as scheduled in Guangzhou, comprehensively summarizing the rich achievements made in the treatment strategies for elderly burn and trauma and wound repair techniques in China.
Ii. Public Welfare Practice: Teams of academicians and experts go to the grassroots level
In response to the national call for the downward allocation of high-quality medical resources, the branch actively organized teams of academicians and experts to carry out public welfare activities at the grassroots level. In April this year, an expert team led by Academician Fu Xiaobing visited the Tongling Municipal Hospital in Anhui Province to carry out assistance and free medical consultation activities for the construction of the wound repair discipline. They provided local residents with the opportunity to have face-to-face communication and health consultation with renowned domestic experts, earning wide acclaim.
It has become a regular task for the branch to regularly organize academicians and experts to go to rural areas and grassroots levels for scientific and technological assistance every year.
Iii. Norms and Standards: Leading the high-quality development of the industry
In terms of standardization construction, the branch actively promotes the standardized development of elderly burn and trauma treatment and wound repair. At the 10th Academic Conference held in September last year, two group standards, namely "MEEK Skin Grafting Technical Specifications for Elderly Burn and Trauma Wounds" and "Local Care Technical Specifications for Chronic Non-healing Wounds on the Body Surface of the Elderly", led by the branch, were officially released, marking a crucial step towards standardized and normalized treatment and care in the field of elderly burn and trauma.
At the upcoming 11th Academic Conference in September this year, the branch will release two expert consensons, namely the "Expert Consensus on Systematic Assessment and Treatment of Refractory Wounds in the Elderly" and the "Expert Consensus on Treatment of Acute Traumatic Wounds in the Elderly", aiming to establish a full-process standard covering prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, and promote the standardization of diagnosis and treatment of various types of wounds in the elderly. Provide efficient and homogeneous solutions for clinical practice.
Iv. Talent Cultivation: Young talents are emerging
The branch attaches great importance to the cultivation of young talents and stimulates the innovative vitality of young scholars by holding various evaluation and display activities. During the 10th Academic Conference last year, the branch successfully held the "Young Physician Case Evaluation Exhibition" and the "Nursing and Rehabilitation Case Evaluation Exhibition" activities, providing a platform for young talents across the country to exchange ideas and showcase their skills.
This year's 11th academic conference will continue to set up evaluation and display activities, collecting innovative technology application cases from clinical doctors and nurses under the age of 45 across the country. Through such activities, outstanding talents will be selected to help a large number of young scholars explore deeply and make positive progress.
After listening to the report, Academician Fu Xiaobing highly affirmed the work of the Burn and Trauma Branch. After "ten years of tempering", the Burn and Trauma Branch has gradually grown into a core force promoting the development of industry-university-research-application in the treatment of elderly burn and trauma and wound repair in China. He pointed out that in the future, the branch should continue to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation, deepen the research and construction of the wound repair discipline system, promote the implementation of the concept of "Healthy China, Focusing on the Elderly", and contribute more to improving the quality of life of elderly patients with burns and trauma.
Professor Liao LAN, the Party Secretary of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, and others accompanied the inspection throughout. This research and guidance have pointed out the direction for the future development of the Burn and Trauma Branch and will surely promote the cause of elderly burn and trauma treatment and wound repair in our country to a new level.
