Four sub-forums: Precisely Focusing on Demands and strengthening diagnosis and treatment norms
To precisely meet the demands of ultrasound diagnosis and treatment in geriatric medicine, the conference has set up four specialized sub-forums: abdominal and interventional ultrasound, cardiac and vascular ultrasound, comprehensive and obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound, and superficial and musculoskeletal ultrasound, successfully establishing an academic exchange system covering multiple fields. Each sub-forum focused on high-incidence diseases among the elderly, such as liver, gallbladder and pancreatic tumors, cardiovascular degenerative diseases, gynecological diseases, and musculoskeletal system degeneration. From precise diagnostic techniques like contrast-enhanced ultrasound and puncture biopsy to minimally invasive treatment methods guided by ultrasound, they not only paid attention to technological innovation breakthroughs but also emphasized the standardization and application of standardized diagnosis and treatment processes, providing scientific guidance for clinical practice. Meanwhile, each special session, through in-depth analysis of the cutting-edge trends in sub-specialty fields and detailed dissection of typical clinical cases, has established an efficient and interconnected disciplinary exchange platform. This helps ultrasound physicians break through professional cognitive barriers, cultivate precise diagnosis and treatment thinking centered on organ systems, and ultimately promote the optimization and upgrading of individualized treatment plans for elderly patients. Inject solid strength from the ultrasound discipline into the continuous improvement of the quality of elderly health services.
Expert consensus: Filling the gap in the field leads the standards of diagnosis and treatment
During the conference, a discussion meeting on the "Expert Consensus on Ultrasound Diagnosis and Treatment of Thyroid Cancer in the Elderly" was held simultaneously. Professor Zhang Bo from China-Japan Friendship Hospital emphasized in his opening remarks that thyroid cancer in the elderly has both invasive and indolent characteristics, and the clinical management urgently needs to be standardized, highlighting the urgency of formulating a consensus. The specially invited guests at the meeting - Professor Li Qianrui from West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Director Gao Chao from the Journal Editorial Department of Beijing Hospital - gave explanations and comments on the consensus writing norms. During the expert discussion session, experts from the ultrasound, surgery and statistics departments of many well-known hospitals across the country engaged in in-depth and lively discussions on various recommended opinions. This seminar officially formed the first systematic expert consensus in China on the ultrasound assessment and management of thyroid cancer in the elderly, which will provide important references for clinical practice and promote the standardization and individualization of diagnosis and treatment.
Special academic event: Technical Empowerment for the Centenary Celebration lecture tour
Based on multi-dimensional demands, the conference launched three distinctive academic activities on the 19th, laying the foundation for subsequent exchanges:
"Healthy Intestines - Academic Conference on Transrectal Ultrasound" Focusing on the core pain points of clinical application of anal and rectal ultrasound, this paper deeply analyzes the key points of ultrasound identification of perianal inflammatory lesions, clarifies the precise diagnostic path of anal fistula in Crohn's disease, builds a "technology-clinical" connection system of transrectal ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of rectal cancer, and simultaneously clarifies the standardized operation methods and quality control standards, providing full-process technical guidance for clinical practice.
"Voice of Voice - 'Shadow' Leading Diagnostic Ultrasound Case Sharing Conference" : With case sharing as the core carrier, it gathers typical cases from multiple regions and subspecialties of ultrasound across the country. Through cross-regional experience exchanges, it showcases the current clinical level and innovative directions of ultrasound diagnosis and treatment, and promotes the efficient sharing of diagnostic ideas and practical experiences.
The "Ultrasound Lecture Hall" of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Wuhan Medical Association's Centenary Celebration Series of Academic Activities As a key part of the academic series for the 100th anniversary celebration of the Wuhan Medical Association, it focuses on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence-assisted diagnosis, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, and minimally invasive ablation treatment. It builds a professional platform for ultrasound practitioners to "learn the cutting-edge, enhance skills, and promote exchanges", aiming to deeply integrate ultrasound technology into the entire process of elderly health management and provide strong support for the implementation of the "Healthy China 2030" strategy.
Middle-aged and young talent cultivation and popular science dissemination: Academic paper exchange showcases talent, and popular science Lectures touch People's Hearts
To further promote academic exchanges and professional growth among young and middle-aged scholars in the field of ultrasound medicine, and at the same time actively promote the wide dissemination of ultrasound popular science knowledge, the conference has specially set up an ultrasound forum for young and middle-aged scholars and a popular science exchange session, forming a dual-track support of "cultivating talents and benefiting the public". Professor Chen Luzeng, the president-elect of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics and the director of the Ultrasound Department of Peking University First Hospital, and Professor Wu Meng, the director of the Department of Comprehensive Ultrasound Medicine of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, attended and delivered speeches successively. Wu Dongfang, Ma Na, Sun Xiuming and Jiang Wenli, deputy directors of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, participated in the forum, giving lectures and hosting sessions respectively.
During the Ultrasound Young and Middle-aged Forum session, the conference widely solicited academic papers from across the country. After strict selection by the expert team, 34 high-quality papers were finally shortlisted. The shortlisted papers cover multiple dimensions such as in-depth case reports, analysis of typical cases, clinical research exploration, and basic experimental research. The content is both innovative and practical. It not only demonstrates the broad vision and solid research capabilities of the current young and middle-aged scholars in the field of ultrasound medicine, but also builds a platform for the display of achievements and the collision of ideas for the construction of the main academic force's echelon. Reserve talent momentum for the long-term development of the discipline.
At the science popularization exchange session, the conference invited domestic experts in the field of ultrasound medicine to share their professional insights on topics of public concern regarding elderly health, such as ultrasound screening for common elderly diseases and daily health management. The content of the special session not only strictly controls the medical professionalism but also adopts a popular expression to balance the readability of the general public. It effectively breaks down the health cognition barriers between doctors and patients, builds an efficient communication bridge between physicians and the public, and earnestly fulfills the responsibility of the ultrasound physician group to actively participate in public welfare science popularization, helping to transform professional medical knowledge into the ability to protect the health of the entire population.
