On October 25, 2025, as the Chongyang Festival was approaching, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society successfully held the third committee's term change election conference through a combination of online and offline methods. Xu Xiaodong, vice president and secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, and Zhao Jicheng, deputy secretary-general, attended the meeting. The meeting strictly followed the society's charter and the procedures for the change of term, and elected the new committee and leadership team. Dr. Yan Shuangtong, a chief physician from the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, was elected as the president of the third committee of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch, marking that the branch has officially entered a new stage of development.

At the beginning of the meeting, Xu Xiaodong, vice president and secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, read out the "Approval for the Preparation of the Re-election of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics". As an important branch of the society, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch has always taken improving the metabolic health level of the elderly across the country as its core mission. This term change conference focuses on the upgrading of the branch's organizational construction, aiming to elect a leadership team that combines professional authority and representativeness, laying a solid foundation for the branch's high-quality development in the future.

Subsequently, Zhao Jicheng, the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, read out the "Report on the Qualification Review of Candidates for Committee Members" and the election rules. After a standardized election process, Professor Yan Shuangtong from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army was elected as the president of the third committee of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch. Professors Xing Xiaoping, Yang Tao, Li Qiang, Feng Bo, Tian Limin, Gao Ying, Xingguang, Chen Lili, Li Guixiang, Zhang Qi and Chen Huiling were elected as vice presidents. Zhang Xingguang serves as the general director, while Gu Zhaoyan and Miao Xinyu are appointed as deputy general directors. Professors Tian Hui and Lyu Xiaofeng have been appointed as honorary presidents of the society. In the future, under the leadership of President Yan Shuangtong and the guidance of honorary presidents Tian Hui and Lyu Xiaofeng, the new committee will continue to focus on the field of geriatric endocrinology and metabolism, and promote the vigorous development of China's geriatric metabolic health cause.

At the meeting site, the newly elected president, Yan Shuangtong, delivered a speech. He first extended his sincere gratitude to all the participants and, on behalf of the new committee, paid high tribute to all the members of the previous leadership team. He stated that under the leadership of successive leaders, the previous committee has achieved fruitful results in areas such as academic research, clinical practice guidance, and industry exchanges, laying a solid foundation for the development of the branch. When it comes to future work plans, President Yan Shuangtong made it clear that the new committee will adhere to the original aspiration and mission of the branch, carry forward the fine working traditions and valuable experience of the previous term, and promote the quality improvement and upgrading of all work with higher standards and more practical measures.

As an important force serving the elderly health cause in our country, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Branch will, under the unified leadership of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, focus on three core directions: early prevention, precise diagnosis and treatment, and long-term management of endocrine and metabolic diseases in the elderly. It will continuously promote the application of appropriate medical technologies and deepen health science popularization and education for the elderly. To effectively enhance the awareness and self-management ability of the elderly regarding endocrine and metabolic diseases, and contribute the professional strength of the branch to strengthening the health defense line of the elderly and promoting the construction of a Healthy China.
