On October 26, 2025, the National "Action for Promoting Hearing Health among the Elderly (2024-2027)" series of training and free medical consultation public welfare activities (Yantai Station) were successfully held. As a key practice in thoroughly implementing the national strategy of proactively responding to population aging, the event is overall guided by the Department of Aging Health of the National Health Commission, hosted by the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, organized by the Ear Science Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, and co-organized by the Yantai Medical Association and Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital. It aims to provide professional hearing health services for the elderly in Yantai. Help improve the quality and upgrade the elderly health care cause in the region.

This event in Yantai is the fourth stop of this national campaign. During the academic training session, experts from top domestic medical institutions focused on the implementation plan of the "Action for Promoting Hearing Health in the Elderly", centering on core contents such as new progress in the diagnosis and treatment of senile hearing loss, hearing aid fitting technology, and hearing screening standards. Through theoretical explanations, case analyses, and interactive Q&A sessions, the professional capabilities and practical skills of the participating medical staff were significantly enhanced. A group of backbone forces for elderly hearing health services have been cultivated for the local area.

Free medical consultation by experts

In the afternoon, the free medical consultation event was carried out in an orderly manner in Dahaiyang Community, Yuhuangding Sub-district, Yantai City. Twelve national experts in otolaryngology went deep into the community to provide one-on-one medical services for over 80 elderly people aged 65 and above. The audiologists accompanying the team simultaneously completed free audiological tests for over 40 elderly people. The expert team not only accurately assesses the hearing conditions of the elderly, but also specifically popularizes hearing health care knowledge, guides the elderly to stay away from noise pollution, develop scientific ear usage habits, and formulates personalized health guidance plans for each elderly person. This free medical consultation enabled the elderly to enjoy high-quality medical services right at their doorstep, effectively enhancing the elderly's awareness of hearing health. Many elderly people said, "We were able to detect our hearing problems in time and also learned daily protection methods. Such an activity is so practical."
