On December 7, 2025, the National "Action for Promoting Hearing Health among the Elderly (2024-2027)" series of training and free medical consultation public welfare activities (Zhengzhou Station) was successfully held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. This event is guided by the Department of Aging Health of the National Health Commission, hosted by the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, organized by the Otolaryngology Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics and the Health Commission of Henan Province, and co-organized by Henan Provincial People's Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and the Otolaryngology Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Health Care. As the final stop of 2025 following Changsha, Hohhot and Yantai, the Zhengzhou event is based on the actual needs of elderly health services in the Central Plains region. It deepens the model innovation of "training empowerment and free medical consultation for the benefit of the people", precisely sinks high-quality national medical resources, and injects strong impetus into the construction of the elderly hearing health service system in the central region. Vigorously promote the implementation of the healthy aging strategy in the hinterland of Central China.

At the opening ceremony of the event, Wu Suying, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Henan Provincial People's Hospital, delivered a welcoming speech and shared the hospital's practical achievements in the integrated development of geriatrics and otology specialties. Zhu Mingming, deputy director of the Aging Health Department of the Health Commission of Henan Province, emphasized that hearing health is a key approach to improving the quality of life of the elderly and achieving active aging, and it is related to the happiness index of millions of silver-aged families. Fan Li, the president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, systematically reviewed the fruitful achievements of the four annual actions. He pointed out that the holding of the Zhengzhou station filled the phased gap of national-level special services for elderly hearing health in the central region and was of milestone significance for improving the national action layout and radiating and driving the surrounding provinces. He called on all sectors of society to unite their efforts and jointly build a protective network for elderly hearing health. Zhang Qiujian, honorary director of the Expert Committee of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, analyzed the difficulties and pain points in the prevention and control of hearing loss among the elderly from a professional perspective. He highly affirmed the significant value of the "training + free medical consultation" integrated model in enhancing the service capacity at the grassroots level and safeguarding the health rights and interests of the elderly, and pointed out the direction for subsequent work.

That afternoon, a free medical consultation event was held in the outpatient hall of Henan Provincial People's Hospital with great enthusiasm. Ear experts from top domestic medical institutions such as the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, Peking University People's Hospital, and Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, in collaboration with local backbone forces like Henan Provincial People's Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, have formed a high-level medical team to provide one-stop services for the elderly. Experts conduct meticulous ear canal examinations and rapid initial hearing screenshots, and provide personalized treatment suggestions and rehabilitation guidance based on different hearing conditions. The on-site science popularization and education area uses richly illustrated display boards to popularize ear protection knowledge and spread health concepts. "Being able to see national-level experts right at your doorstep not only helps you understand the condition of your ears but also teaches you some tips for ear protection!" " The elderly who participated in the activity all gave thumbs up to this heartwarming public welfare action.

The successful holding of this event in Zhengzhou is a vivid practice of the downward flow of high-quality medical resources and the forward shift of service focus, and it is also a concrete manifestation of the development concept of "putting people at the center" in the field of elderly health. Compared with the first three stations of this year, the Zhengzhou station, based on the characteristics of the large elderly population base and the urgent demand for grassroots services in the populous Central Plains province, pays more attention to the cultivation of local talents and the construction of a long-term service mechanism. Through expert guidance and standard promotion, it has cultivated a group of elderly hearing health service backbone personnel who can be retained and utilized for Henan. Promote the formation of a full-chain service closed loop covering "screening - intervention - follow-up".

Looking ahead, the Chinese Society of Geriatrics will take the annual four-station actions as the foundation, summarize and refine the distinctive experiences of various regions, continuously optimize the action model, and promote the elderly hearing health promotion action to a broader scope and deeper level. Let the concept of "Listen to the sounds of all things and enjoy a wonderful life" be deeply rooted in people's hearts, help more elderly people enjoy a healthy old age, and contribute solid strength to promoting the construction of a healthy China and actively responding to the national strategy of population aging.
