On March 3, 2026, on the occasion of the 27th National Ear Care Day, a large-scale public welfare free medical consultation event was jointly organized by the Gansu Provincial Health Commission, the Gansu Provincial Geriatrics Society, the Gansu Provincial Geriatric Disease and Medical-Elderly Care Integration Quality Control Center, the Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Branch of the Gansu Provincial Medical Association, and the Third People's Hospital of Gansu Province. It was successfully held on Zhangye Road Pedestrian Street in Lanzhou City. This event, themed "Scientific Ear Use for All, Jointly Protecting Hearing Health - Safe Ear Use, Healthy Growth", aims to thoroughly implement the "Healthy China" strategy and the national strategy of actively responding to population aging, focusing on the popularization of hearing health knowledge and early intervention. It is an important people-benefiting practice to promote the high-quality development of the ear and hearing health cause throughout the province.

The event integrates high-quality medical resources within the province, organizing ENT experts and traditional Chinese medicine experts from eight provincial hospitals across the province to provide various forms of hearing health services to the public. Multiple special zones are set up on site, including free expert consultations, hearing tests, traditional Chinese medicine characteristic diagnoses and treatments, basic examinations, and popular science publicity, offering one-stop and multi-dimensional hearing health diagnosis and treatment services to citizens. The expert team conducted detailed examinations and professional answers for common hearing impairment diseases such as deafness, tinnitus and vertigo. Professional audiologists conduct rapid hearing screening and otoscopy examinations. Traditional Chinese medicine experts carry out treatments such as auricular point pressing and acupuncture. In addition, free blood pressure and blood sugar testing services were provided on site, and lively and interesting science popularization and quiz activities with prizes were carried out to attract the active participation of the public. This effectively conveyed the scientific prevention and treatment concept of "early screening, early detection, and early intervention", and received high recognition and wide acclaim from the public. According to statistics, on-site medical services were provided for over a hundred patients with deafness and tinnitus and more than twenty patients with vertigo.

This free medical consultation is one of the important phased activities of the "Gansu Province Elderly Hearing Health Promotion Action (2025-2027)", and it is also a vivid microcosm of Gansu Province's systematic construction of a public service system for ear and hearing health. The event not only directly serves the public, but also extends professional hearing health services and scientific knowledge from medical institutions to communities, effectively lowering the threshold for the public, especially the elderly, to access relevant health services and significantly enhancing the health literacy of the entire population in ear care.

Next, the Gansu Geriatrics Society will continue to play a leading role in academic research and industry collaboration under the strong leadership of the Provincial Health Commission. We will continue to promote the province-wide action for enhancing hearing health among the elderly. By conducting specialized training, technology promotion and public welfare activities, we will actively explore a hearing health service model integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine, contribute to the high-quality development of the province's ear and hearing health cause, constantly strengthen the service capabilities at the grassroots level, and contribute more to safeguarding the health of the people throughout their life cycle and advancing the construction of a "Healthy China".
