On the afternoon of April 17th, the "Party Building + Free Medical Consultation" public welfare activity, jointly organized by the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, Civil Aviation General Hospital, and the College of Geriatric Welfare of Civil Affairs Vocational University, was successfully held at the Sanjianfang Community Health Service Center in Chaoyang District, Beijing. This event adheres to the leadership of Party building, fully leverages the platform advantages of the society, integrates resources from hospitals, universities and communities, and deeply integrates the teaching of health management with grassroots health services. It provides high-quality and convenient health services to community residents and also builds an immersive practical platform for students majoring in health management and nursing.
1. Party building leadership and multi-party collaboration to serve the grassroots
This event was actively coordinated by the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, with the joint participation of the Party Branch of the Nursing Department of Civil Aviation General Hospital and the Party Branch of the College of Geriatric Welfare of Civil Affairs Vocational University. A total of 6 Party members and over 30 Communist Youth League members from the three parties were dispatched to form a volunteer service team, which was fully involved in the organization of the event and health services. Tu Qilei, the president of the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the Party branch secretary of the College of Geriatric Welfare of Civil Affairs Vocational University, pointed out in his pre-event mobilization that it is necessary to adhere to the leadership of Party building, promote the in-depth integration of Party building and business, guide the majority of committee members, their affiliated units and professional teachers and students to take root in the grassroots and serve the people, and practice the Healthy China strategy with concrete actions.
Second, health services, professional empowerment for community health
At the beginning of the event, Head Nurse Zhu from Sanjianfang Community Health Service Center led all the teachers and students to conduct a comprehensive visit to understand the overall situation of the center. She provided a detailed and comprehensive explanation on the service area, the scale of registered residents, the layout of departments, the composition of the medical and nursing team, as well as the daily operation mode and core service system of the center. It enabled the students to form a clear and three-dimensional understanding of the service process of grassroots health management.
During the free medical consultation session, Miao Zhaoqing, an officer from the Nursing Department of Civil Aviation General Hospital, led a medical team to provide free medical services such as blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, chronic disease medication guidance, and health consultation for the residents in the jurisdiction. Zhang Yanjing, the leading figure of the nursing major in the College of Geriatric Welfare of Civil Affairs Vocational University, along with teachers Liu Shu and Sun Lili from the Nursing Teaching and Research Section, led student volunteers to assist medical staff in organizing residents' health records and conducting follow-up registrations for chronic diseases, closely integrating the theoretical knowledge learned in class with grassroots practice. This event provided services to over 80 residents in total.
Third, immerse yourself in learning and cultivate a deep affection for health services
During the activity, the students deeply realized the responsibility and value of health management work from the dedication and silent hard work of grassroots medical staff who have been rooted in the front line. A student member of the League who participated in the activity said that unlike the "passive medical treatment" model of hospitals that mainly focuses on diagnosis and treatment, the "active service" concept of community health service centers centered on health management has enabled everyone to deeply understand the broader professional connotation and deeper humanistic value of nursing work.
During this event, the service team has always adhered to the responsibility of "not necessarily taking credit for success, but surely contributing to it", achieving resource sharing through the joint construction of Party branches and establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism for the integration of medical care and education. In the future, the society will continue to expand its cooperation areas, and make in-depth efforts in the cultivation of medical and elderly care integration talents, the construction of the elderly health service system, and the training of grassroots nursing talents. It aims to cultivate more outstanding talents with a sense of patriotism, professional qualities and service spirit, and contribute solid strength to the construction of a Healthy China.
