May 17, 2026 marks the 22nd World Hypertension Day. In response to the theme call of "Hand in Hand to Control Blood Pressure", on May 12th, the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, in collaboration with the Health Management Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine and Jinqiu Qiantang Elderly Apartment, successfully held the "World Hypertension Day - Party Building + Free Clinic" public welfare activity at Jinqiu Qiantang Elderly Apartment in Hangzhou.

This activity adheres to the leadership of Party building and thoroughly studies and implements the educational spirit of "establishing and practicing the correct view of political achievements". It takes "benefiting the people" as the greatest political achievement and truly places the starting point and ultimate goal of the work on meeting the health needs of the grassroots people, especially the elderly. The event fully leveraged the professional advantages of the society's platform, avoiding "image projects" and "superficial efforts". Instead, it closely aligned professional services for chronic disease prevention and control with the actual health needs of the grassroots population. Through practical health consultations, blood pressure monitoring, medication guidance, and lifestyle interventions, it provided high-quality, convenient, and accessible health services to a large number of elderly friends It reflects the sense of responsibility and commitment that "success does not necessarily belong to me, but I will surely contribute to it."

The atmosphere at the free medical consultation site was lively yet orderly. The expert team provided patient and detailed health science popularization and answered questions for every elderly person present. In response to the elders' questions about "medication concerns" or "daily life details", experts provided scientific health management suggestions based on individual differences. During the communication, the doctors repeatedly popularized the prevention and control measures for hypertension to the elderly, emphasizing that scientific blood pressure control is not merely dependent on drug treatment, but also requires the establishment of a healthy lifestyle intervention matrix through dietary adjustment, regular exercise, quitting smoking and limiting alcohol intake, maintaining a peaceful state of mind, ensuring adequate sleep, and long-term monitoring. This was highly recognized by the elderly present.

During the event, a total of 8 medical staff members who are Party members participated and provided "one-on-one" health services to over 40 elderly people. This is not only a professional health service, but also a vivid practice of Party building by the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society to internalize and externalize the correct view of political achievements, and to go deep into the grassroots and serve the people. It effectively avoids the tendency of "emphasizing obvious achievements over hidden ones and short-term effects over long-term ones".
