From August 14th to 15th, 2026, the second committee transition conference and academic Conference of the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics was held in Chengdu. The conference, themed "Intelligence Converges for the Elderly, Medical Journey Together - Building a New Ecosystem of Digital Diagnosis and Treatment for the Elderly", features one main venue and four parallel sub-venues, gathering top experts in the fields of geriatrics, digital diagnosis and treatment, and critical care medicine in China to discuss the high-quality development of the elderly health cause.

The re-election of the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch was successfully completed, and Professor Cao Feng was re-elected as the chairperson

On the evening of August 14th, the second committee election meeting of the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics was held in Chengdu. The meeting was presided over by Hou Huiru, vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics.

The meeting was conducted strictly in accordance with the society's charter and the procedures for the election of new terms. Vice President Hou Huiru first read out the approval of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics on the preparations for the change of the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch. Professor Cao Feng, on behalf of the first committee, made a report on the preparations for the change of term, comprehensively reviewing the development process and major achievements of the branch over the past five years.

The meeting deliberated and approved the report on the qualification review of the candidates for committee members and the election rules for the second committee. The conference elected the third committee and leadership team of the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch. Professor Cao Feng from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army was unanimously re-elected as the chairperson. Professors Wang Huiquan, Bu Jun, Ye Zhewei, Shan Lequn, Shi Bei, Li Muwei, Li Chunjian, Huang Wei and Li Shuang were elected as vice-chairpersons. The leaders of the society present certificates to the elected chairperson and vice-chairperson. Chairman Cao Feng nominated and presented the certificates of the director-general and deputy director-general, marking the official completion of the new organizational structure.

In his inaugural speech, Chairperson Cao Feng stated that the new committee will, under the leadership of the General Association, adhere to the guidance of Party building, uphold the mission of "developing geriatric medicine and serving the health of the elderly", continuously promote the in-depth integration of digital technology and geriatric medicine, and contribute to the construction of a new ecosystem of efficient, precise and warm elderly health services.

The report on the change of leadership shows that since its establishment, the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch has achieved remarkable results in organizational construction, academic guidance, and technological innovation. Over the past five years, members of the branch have been approved for 23 various research projects, led the formulation of 9 guidelines, 7 consensuses and 2 standards, published 7 monographs, obtained 36 authorized invention patents, and won 26 awards including the Gold Award at the Nuremberg International Invention Exhibition in Germany. In the comprehensive assessment of the 58 branches of the Chinese Geriatrics Society in 2025, the Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Branch ranked among the top in six core indicators and overall performance, fully demonstrating the academic influence and organizational vitality of the branch.

The academic conference focused on the cutting-edge and featured a variety of keynote speeches

On the morning of August 15th, the academic conference was grandly opened, with renowned experts from all over the country in attendance in relevant fields.

In the first stage of the keynote speech, an expert from the Chinese Society of Geriatrics delivered a speech titled "Intelligent Transformation of Geriatric Medicine Paradigms in the Context of Population Aging", systematically expounding on the profound changes and intelligent transformation paths faced by the development model of geriatric medicine in the context of an aging society. Professor Qu Jing from the National Key Laboratory of Organ Regeneration and Reconstruction, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a lecture on "Research on the Intervention and Regulation Mechanisms of Aging", providing new ideas for the prevention and treatment of aging-related diseases. Professor Cao Feng, the executive vice president of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, delivered a presentation on "Research on Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Assisting in Early Warning of Cardiovascular Risks in the Elderly", elaborating in depth on the application prospects of digital technology in the early warning and precise management of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly.

In the second stage of the keynote speech, Professor Bu Jun from Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine gave a special lecture on "Research on Aging Driven by Big Data and Artificial Intelligence", revealing the huge potential of big data and AI technologies in the study of aging mechanisms. Professor Yan Jing from Zhejiang Hospital, focusing on the "digital and intelligent" transformation of critical care medicine, delivered a speech titled "From Data Deluge to Diagnosis and Treatment Decision-making", exploring the direction of change in critical care medicine under the digital wave. Professor Ye Zhewei from Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology shared his valuable experience in "The Practice and Exploration of AI Empowering Medicine". Professor Zhou Chunfa from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University gave a systematic presentation on "Construction of Critical Care Big Data Platform and Real-world Research". Professors Jin Xiaodong and Li Zhenzhong from West China Hospital of Sichuan University delivered a discussion on the topic of "Extended Services for Critically Ill Patients". Professor Li Zhenzhong from the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University and Professor Wu Wenli from the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center of Chongqing People's Hospital respectively shared their insights on "Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Sleep Disorders" and "Interpretation of the Chinese Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Heart Failure" at the academic symposium.

The in-depth discussion at the sub-forum focused on the integration of geriatric medicine and AI

That afternoon, academic discussions were held simultaneously in four parallel sub-forums. Among them, the digital diagnosis and treatment sub-forum set up two major topics, and the academic atmosphere on the spot was very strong.

Theme One centers on the "New Paradigm of Deep Integration of Geriatrics and Artificial Intelligence". Professor Han Han from State Investment Corporation - China Electronics Engineering Design Institute Co., Ltd. introduced the application of "VitalSphere Matrix Brain-Body Quantification Active Rehabilitation System in the Rehabilitation of Multiple Diseases in the Elderly". Professor Li Kang from West China Hospital of Sichuan University shared the cutting-edge achievements of "Embodied Rehabilitation Research for Neuromotor Injuries" and "From Hand/Upper Limb Perception Agents to Brain-computer Decode-driven Flexible Lower Limb Exoskeletons". Professor Wang Huiquan from Tianjin Polytechnic University discussed "The Development and Challenges of Digital Diagnosis and Treatment Technologies for the Elderly". Professor Xue Yajun from Tsinghua Changgung Hospital delivered a presentation on "Empowering the Full-process Management of Cardiovascular Diseases in the Elderly with Digital Intelligence: From Risk Warning to Precise Intervention". Professor Xiao Jingjing from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University, Professor Zhang Xiaogang from Southwest Jiaotong University, and Professor Ling Feng from Shenzhen Ribang Artificial Intelligence Laboratory respectively presented on "Digital Intelligence Revitalizing the 'Heart' : The Intelligent Evolution of Cardiac MRI" and "Digital Joint Surgery Support Technologies from an Engineering Perspective: A wonderful lecture was given on "From Clinical Pain Points to Precise Implementation Exploration" and "Research on Innovative Electrocardiogram Technology Based on Artificial Intelligence".

Theme Two centers on "The Leap from Assisted Decision-making to Precision Care". Professor Hou Huiru, vice president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, delivered a report on "Empowering the Care Industry with Digital Technology - Strengthening Talent Cultivation and System Construction". Professor Deng Baofeng from Beijing Geriatric Hospital introduced the practical experience of "taking CGA as the handle to promote the high-quality development of precise elderly care". Professor Wang Xiaoyuan and Professor Huo Chunnuan from the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army respectively shared their insights on "Health Care in the Digital Age" and "From Concept to Practice, From Technology to Service - A Comprehensive Analysis of the Present and Future of Intelligent Decision-making and Precise Care". The exchange at the venue was lively, presenting a high-level academic feast to the participants.

The successful convening of this conference has injected strong impetus into the cause of digital diagnosis and treatment for the elderly in our country.
