To further implement the "Happiness Knocking at the Door · Warmth at Home" visit and care improvement campaign for rural elderly people with special difficulties in 2026, and to carry out the deployment and requirements of the National Working Committee on Aging regarding the "Respect for the Elderly Month" activities, and to vigorously promote the traditional virtues of respecting, honoring, loving and assisting the elderly, as the National Respect for the Elderly Month is in full swing and the Chongyang Festival is approaching, On the morning of October 16, 2026, the Health Management Branch of the China Geriatrics Society, in collaboration with the College of Elderly Welfare of Civil Affairs Vocational University and the Jiulongtang (Beijing) International Medical and Health Research Institute, organized volunteers and health management experts to visit Qingyundian Town to carry out free health check-ups and care services for the elderly. Bring professional and convenient health management and warm care to the elderly in rural areas.

This event was led by Zhang Qing, the deputy director of the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society. Yang Yang and Li Jingya, the deputy directors of the branch, accompanied and participated. Professor Jin Meimei and Teacher Wang Xiaowei from Civil Affairs Vocational University, as well as over ten experts from Jiulongtang and ten volunteers who had received pre-job training, provided on-site services.

At the event site, elderly residents came for medical consultation in an endless stream. The health management experts present inquired in detail about the elderly person's physical condition, provided personalized health advice for elderly health issues such as high blood pressure and common chronic diseases, and popularized knowledge about daily health care, reasonable rest and scientific diet. According to statistics, the event has provided services to a total of 83 elderly residents, including 109 blood pressure measurements, 134 auricular point pressing sessions, and 104 basic health care massages and health consultations. This enables rural elderly people to receive professional health guidance without having to travel far.

Volunteers worked closely with the medical team to help the elderly measure their blood pressure in an orderly manner, perform auricular point pressing, provide basic health care massages, patiently explain the service process and answer their questions. When encountering elderly people with mobility issues, proactively offer assistance and escort them back and forth. At the same time, maintain on-site order to ensure the safety and orderly conduct of services. Volunteers and experts also visited the homes of elderly people with special difficulties in the jurisdiction, such as those living alone, the elderly, and the disabled, to conduct health follow-ups. They focused on understanding their physical conditions and living needs, extending care from the "scene" to the "doorstep".

The young students participating in the service applied the knowledge of elderly health management they had learned in class to real service scenarios. During the face-to-face reception and companionship with the elderly, the students gained a deeper understanding of the real needs of the elderly in rural areas, closely experienced their current living conditions, and cultivated the awareness of respecting and caring for the elderly through communication and practical services. They earnestly fulfilled the responsibilities and commitments of the new era's youth.

This service is an important measure taken by the branch to implement the "Happiness Knocking at the Door · Warmth at Home" visit and care improvement campaign for rural elderly people with special difficulties in 2026. It is also a concrete action to carry out the practice of respecting, loving and assisting the elderly under the guiding spirit of the National Respect for the Elderly Month. Based on the expertise of the health management major and in collaboration with the strength of educational institutions, the branch focuses on the elderly with special difficulties in rural areas, bringing warm health care to the elderly in Qingyundian Town and helping to bridge the "last mile" of convenient services for the elderly. Next, the branch will continue to deepen the "Happiness Knocking at the Door · Warmth at Home" initiative. Relying on the platform and expert resource advantages of the society, it will promote high-quality elderly health management resources to reach rural grassroots levels and cover more elderly people with special difficulties, creating a strong atmosphere of respecting, caring for, loving and helping the elderly, and contributing professional strength to actively responding to population aging and enhancing the well-being of the elderly.
