On October 24, 2025, the third committee election conference of the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society was held in Beijing.

The election meeting for the new term was presided over by General Secretary Wang Xuejing of the Second Committee of the Laboratory Medicine Branch.

Professor MAO Yuanli, the president of the second Committee of the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, made a comprehensive summary of the work of the second committee, reviewing the achievements made by the branch during this stage in terms of organizational construction, academic exchanges, scientific research innovation, standard setting, continuing education, grassroots training and professional popular science.

President MAO Yuanli, on behalf of the second committee, expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Cong Yulong, Professor Zhao Hu, Professor Qiu Yurong, Professor Jiang Hong, Professor Ha Xiaoqin, Professor Zhao Youyun, Professor Li Lixin and Professor Qiu Ling for their outstanding contributions to the development of the branch.

Vice Director-General Zhou Yu of the Second Committee of the Laboratory Medicine Branch reported on the preparatory work for the branch's term change.

Vice President Xu Xiaodong of the Chinese Geriatrics Society introduced the society's mission, development history and the significant role played by the Laboratory Medicine Branch, and read out the "Approval for the Preparation of the Re-election of the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society". Zhao Jicheng, the deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, read out the "Report on the Qualification Review of Candidates for Committee Members" and the election rules.

In accordance with the charter of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, the third committee and leadership team of the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society were elected in accordance with the prescribed procedures. Professor MAO Yuanli from the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital was elected as the president, and Professor Cong Yulong from the PLA General Hospital was elected as the honorary president. Cao Yingping from Union Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University, Cheng Xinqi from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Li Shijun from the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, Qu Chenxue from Peking University First Hospital, Wang Changmin from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Hospital, Wang Jianghuai from Mindray Medical Group, Wang Lin from Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wang Peijin from Zhengzhou Antu Bioengineering Co., LTD., Shenzhen Yuan Jinyun from the New Industry Biomedical Engineering Co., Ltd. of the city, Zhong Tianyu from Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Zhou Hongwei from Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University, and Zhou Yu from the Second Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital (in alphabetical order by surname) were elected as vice presidents. President MAO Yuanli appointed Professor Wang Xuejing from Civil Aviation General Hospital as the director-general and Liu Aixia from the Fifth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital as the deputy director-general.

The third committee of the branch appointed Professors Cong Yulong, Guo Jian, Zhang Huiying, Li Li, Zhao Hu, Jiang Hong, Qiu Yurong, Ha Xiaoqin, Zhao Youyun, Li Lixin and Qiu Ling as expert advisors and presented them with certificates.

A total of 649 people were elected at this congress, including 164 standing committee members and 485 committee members. After the term change conference, the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society held the first plenary meeting of the third committee.

At the meeting, President MAO Yuanli reviewed the journey of the society from its nascent stage to its gradual growth and expansion, and expressed her sincere gratitude to all the inspection colleagues for their support. Looking ahead, she stated: "With the joint efforts of all the committee members, the branch will continue to strive for excellence and keep moving towards the goal of becoming an outstanding academic organization by carrying out rich and diverse academic activities and professional projects."

The conference came to a successful conclusion amid the warm applause of all the representatives. This round of leadership transition election not only injected fresh blood into the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, but also clarified the direction and path for the future development of the discipline. Today, the new committee is embracing a new development opportunity presented by the "15th Five-Year Plan". Facing new tasks in medical development, the Laboratory Medicine Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society is bound to lead the progress of the geriatric laboratory medicine discipline, contribute professional strength to creating a healthy and harmonious aging society and promoting the continuous advancement of the Healthy China strategy.
