Recently, the "15th Hong Kong International Forum on Active Health and Aging" was grandly held at the University of Hong Kong. Professor Li Xuejun, the president of the Smart Healthcare and Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, the vice dean of Xiangya School of Medicine at Central South University, and an expert in neurosurgery at Xiangya Hospital, attended the forum as a representative of the co-organizers and delivered an important speech. He discussed strategies for addressing population aging with over 500 experts and scholars from more than 30 renowned universities around the world, including Yale University and the National University of Singapore.

In his opening remarks, Professor Li Xuejun, from the dual perspectives of a neurosurgeon and a smart healthcare manager, offered profound insights into the issue of aging. He emphasized that against the backdrop of the accelerating aging of the global population, while extending life expectancy is important, improving the quality of life of the elderly is even more crucial. Especially with the increase of age, the prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases rises significantly. How to intervene early and manage effectively through smart medical means has become an important issue in addressing the challenges of aging.

As the president of the Smart Healthcare and Management Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, Professor Li Xuejun pointed out that the deep integration of modern technology and medical health is reshaping the model of elderly health services. He called on nursing researchers to stand at the forefront of the elderly health cause, actively apply smart medical technologies, and establish a full life cycle health management system centered on "dignity, independence and satisfaction". This view resonated widely with the experts present at the meeting.

During the conference, Professor Li Xuejun was specially invited for an interview by Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao and Wen Wei Po. He pointed out that aging is not only a test of medical resources, but also a comprehensive challenge to the concepts and models of medical services. He looks forward to integrating the professional knowledge of neurosurgery and the advanced concepts of smart healthcare into elderly health services through interdisciplinary and international exchanges and cooperation, and promoting the establishment of more forward-looking and sustainable solutions for healthy aging.

This forum is jointly organized by the School of Nursing of the University of Hong Kong, Central South University and the Hong Kong Ta Kung Pao Wen Wei Po Media Group, and has received strong support from the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and other departments. Professor Li Xuejun's in-depth participation and professional sharing fully demonstrated the academic leadership of the Xiangya Medical System in the fields of elderly health and smart healthcare, and also opened up a new path for promoting in-depth cooperation between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong in the field of healthy aging.

Through this high-level international academic exchange, Professor Li Xuejun stated that he will continue to lead his team to deepen research in the fields of smart healthcare and elderly health, and contribute "Xiangya Wisdom" and "Chinese solutions" to promoting the development of elderly health in China.
