On November 1, 2025, the third term change election conference of the Medical and Elderly Care Integration Promotion Committee of the China Geriatrics Society was grandly held in Beijing. The meeting elected the new leadership team and clearly defined the four core directions of "innovation-driven, standard-led, talent-based, and public welfare-oriented empowerment". We express our gratitude to the 13 units that participated in the formulation of the two group standards, namely the "Standards for Health Management Services in Medical and Elderly Care Integration" and the "Norms for Medical Connection Services in Medical and Elderly Care Integration Institutions". This leadership transition marks a new stage of standardization, professionalization and intelligence in the medical and elderly care integration cause of the society, injecting new impetus into the national strategy of addressing population aging.

Message from the leader: Dual drive of policy guidance and practical innovation

Professor Fan Li, the president of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, emphasized in his speech that the new committee needs to closely follow the national strategic deployment and focus on promoting three major tasks. First, it should anchor the policy orientation, deepen academic research, and integrate it into the implementation of the national strategy of actively responding to population aging. Second, focus on practical pain points and carry out precise research and technological breakthroughs around core links such as health assessment for the elderly and chronic disease management. Third, we should enhance collaborative interaction, deepen cooperation with multiple entities such as medical institutions and elderly care institutions, and build an integrated pattern of coordinated development of "medical care, elderly care, research and application". Professor Fan Li extended warm congratulations to the new committee members and expressed sincere respect to all colleagues of the second committee. She pointed out that it is the continuous efforts of previous committee members that have laid a solid foundation for the cause of integrating medical care and elderly care. She looks forward to the new team contributing wisdom and strength to the governance of an aging society with a higher perspective and more practical measures.

Professor Lin Feng, the newly elected president (Hainan Hospital of the PLA General Hospital), said in his speech that the previous committees have achieved fruitful results in academic research, practical guidance, industry exchanges and other fields, laying a solid foundation for the development of the branch. In the future, the new committee will deepen the core color of "medical care and elderly care for health", highlight the characteristic advantage of "exercise promoting health", and promote the medical resources of the Geriatrics Society to become a solid backing for the development of the elderly care industry. The process of leadership transition: Standardize the election of a new leadership team

Xu Xiaodong, vice president and secretary-general of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, read out the "Approval for the Preparation of the Re-election of the Medical and Elderly Care Integration Promotion Committee of the Chinese Geriatrics Society" and delivered a speech. She pointed out that the Medical and Elderly Care Integration Promotion Committee has always taken enhancing the health literacy of the elderly across the country and improving the quality of life of the elderly group as its core mission. This term change conference focuses on organizational construction, aiming to select a leadership team that combines professional authority with industry representativeness, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of the committee.

Professor Yang Tingshu, the president of the Second Committee of the Medical and Elderly Care Integration Promotion Committee of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, delivered the work report of the second committee. Summarize the achievements made by this committee in exploring new models of medical and elderly care integration services, promoting the standardization and normalization of institutions, organizing standard formulation, conducting standard implementation activities and academic discussions, cultivating professional talents, holding health science popularization lectures and free medical consultation public welfare activities, etc., and introduce the preparatory work of the third committee's preparatory committee.

This term change conference coincides with the successful conclusion of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The plenary session explicitly proposed "to ensure that the elderly are well cared for, improve the policy mechanism for the coordinated development of the elderly care cause and industry, optimize the supply of basic elderly care services, and develop integrated medical and elderly care services." The Medical and Elderly Care Integration Promotion Committee will take the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China as its guidance, translate the deployment of "improving the medical and elderly care integration service system" into concrete actions, continuously deepen standardization construction, strengthen talent support, and promote resource integration, so as to deeply integrate professional medical care with high-quality elderly care and contribute to the development of the "silver economy".
