To thoroughly implement the Healthy China strategy, strengthen the construction of standardized talent teams in the field of geriatrics, and promote the standardized and professional development of elderly health services, the Standardization Working Committee of the Chinese Geriatrics Society successfully held the "Second Group Standard Writing Training Course of the Chinese Geriatrics Society" in Beijing from November 22nd to 23rd, 2025. This training attracted 34 key personnel engaged in standardization work from 19 medical institutions across the country, marking a solid step forward for the society in promoting the standardization of elderly health services.

At the opening ceremony of the training course, Director Yang Lifei of the Standardization Work Committee of the Society systematically introduced the basic knowledge of group standards as well as the overall planning and latest progress of the society's standardization work, emphasizing the fundamental and leading role of standardization work in improving the quality of elderly health services. The training course design is closely integrated with practical needs and focuses on the core issues in the standard writing. Director Feng Dan of the Hospital Management Research Institute of the Medical Innovation Research Department of the PLA General Hospital, with her rich experience in standard drafting, started from the key differences between medical academic papers and standards, and helped clinical experts transform their thinking patterns and establish a professional perspective on standardization through vivid cases. Yao Xiaojing, the former director of the National Standard Technical Review Department of the China National Institute of Standardization and a researcher, provided an in-depth interpretation of the core rules for drafting standard documents, especially offering a thorough analysis of the key distinction between "normative standards" and "guideline standards". She pointed out that "normative standards" are hard requirements that must be followed to measure whether one is qualified or not, while "guideline standards" are flexible guidance that provides best practices and improves service quality. This incisive statement resolved the long-standing confusion of trainees in their actual work.

This training is a professional course meticulously designed by the society based on years of experience in group standard work, addressing common problems and misunderstandings encountered by member units during the standard formulation process. It has effectively enhanced the enthusiasm and professionalism of each branch in participating in standardization construction, laying a talent foundation for building a high-quality elderly health standard system.

The Chinese Society of Geriatrics stated that this training course marks a new starting point for the society to deepen its standardization work. Taking this training as an opportunity, the society will continue to expand and deepen the standardization work in the fields of elderly medical care, elderly care services, and medical and health care. It will actively promote the formulation, application and popularization of more high-quality group standards, making norms and standards a solid support for improving the level of elderly health services and ensuring the health and well-being of the elderly population. Contribute standardized power to promoting the construction of a Healthy China and actively responding to population aging.
