On November 18th, under the guidance of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, the opening ceremony of the sarcopenia Training Camp, the second leg of the "Move for Health, Muscles Must Be Lost" cross-disciplinary prevention and treatment action for debilitating and sarcopenia screening organized by the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics, was successfully held in the Hengxu Man Yuan Continuing Care Elderly Community. As a core member of the sarcopenia prevention and treatment network unit of the Sports and Health Branch, Hengxu Manyuan responds to the national strategy of active aging and deepens the concept of integrating sports and health. It will carry out a one-month sarcopenia prevention and rehabilitation special training month for over 10,000 elderly people in the community and surrounding areas, providing professional and full-cycle muscle health protection plans for the elderly.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Hu Yixin, the executive vice president of the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the executive director of the "Move for Health, Don't Lose Your Muscles" screening interdisciplinary prevention and treatment action project, pointed out that sarcopenia, as a highly prevalent degenerative disease among the elderly, not only leads to a reduction in muscle mass and muscle strength, but also significantly increases the risk of falls, fractures and related complications. It directly affects the quality of life and healthy lifespan in old age and has become the core problem restricting healthy aging.
Professor Hu Yixin emphasized that according to the core consensus on frail-sarcopenia, early prevention and scientific intervention are the keys to response. Based on evidence-based research evidence, targeted strength training, reasonable nutritional supplementation, and continuous health monitoring can effectively delay muscle loss and maintain physical functions. This training camp is an important measure to implement the concept of "hospital-community-home" service connection. It will extend standardized screening and assessment as well as standardized intervention plans from medical institutions to the front line of the community, enabling the elderly to enjoy authoritative and professional health services right at their doorstep. The in-depth yet easy-to-understand theoretical explanations and vivid case sharing enabled the elderly present to have a clear understanding of the harms and key points of prevention and treatment of sarcopenia, laying a solid foundation for their subsequent participation in specialized training.

The person in charge of Hengxu Manyuan stated that the creation of the sarcopenia training camp under the guidance of the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society is an exploration in our work as a medical and elderly care integrated institution and a network unit for the prevention and treatment of fusion-sarcopenia. It is also an important upgrade of the community's "full-cycle health management" service system. In the future, we will continue to connect high-quality medical and academic resources, integrating the full-process service chain of "screening - assessment - intervention - follow-up" into community health and elderly care services, to help the elderly achieve a quality and dignified life in their later years.

Integrate knowledge with action and enjoy an immersive experience of scientific health and wellness services
At the opening ceremony, a fall prevention exercise specially designed for sarcopenia ignited the enthusiasm of the elderly to participate. Under the guidance of professional coaches, the elderly followed the soothing rhythm and practiced each movement carefully. The stretching, knee bending, balance training and other links advanced step by step, which not only took into account the activation of muscles and the improvement of joint flexibility, but also fully considered the physical tolerance of the elderly. Everyone was full of energy and encouraged each other. The scene was filled with a positive and healthy atmosphere, fully demonstrating the pursuit of a high-quality life in old age.

After the practice, the expert team provided the elderly present with an initial screening and assessment service for sarcopenia risk. Through standardized operations such as grip strength tests, step speed measurements, and calf circumference measurements, a rapid initial screening is conducted to accurately grasp the muscle health status of each elderly person. Meanwhile, experts also interpreted the screening results on the spot, answered questions for the elderly, and enabled them to have a direct understanding of their own muscle mass and strength levels. This one-stop arrangement of "theoretical explanation + on-site practice + immediate screening" not only conveys scientific health care knowledge but also provides personalized health guidance, winning wide acclaim from the elderly.

"Before, I always thought that muscle atrophy as one gets older was a normal phenomenon. But today, after listening to the expert's explanation, I realized that it can be prevented and improved. I also learned some fitness exercises and did some screening. I really gained a lot!" " An elderly person who participated in the event said with emotion.
Three-dimensional intervention builds a strong protective net for muscle health
As the core content of this training camp, the community will provide systematic and personalized sarcopenia intervention services for the participating elderly in the coming month, focusing on three major dimensions, and fully implement the standardized requirements of the "Move for Health, Muscles Must Be Lost" initiative:
Customized offline specialized training: 1-2 offline training sessions per week are tailor-made by an expert team, covering various forms such as equipment training, bodyweight movements, and balance exercises. During the training process, professional coaches will guide the movements step by step, adjust the training intensity in real time according to the physical reactions of the elderly, ensure that muscle strength and body coordination are efficiently enhanced under the premise of safety, and delay muscle loss.
Personalized nutrition and lifestyle guidance: The expert team will provide targeted dietary guidance based on the physical assessment results of each elderly person, emphasizing key points such as high-quality protein intake, dietary combination, and vitamin D supplementation, to help the elderly "recharge" their muscle health through dietary adjustment. At the same time, practical plans such as daily activity suggestions and schedule adjustments will also be provided to integrate sarcopenia intervention into all aspects of daily life.
Full-cycle health indicator monitoring: During the training camp, core indicators such as muscle mass, muscle strength, and balance ability will be regularly tested for the elderly. By comparing the data before and after the training, the intervention effect will be objectively evaluated. The expert team will adjust the training and nutrition plans in a timely manner based on the monitoring results, forming a closed-loop management of "assessment - intervention - monitoring - optimization" to ensure the scientificity and effectiveness of the intervention services.
The implementation of this community-level training camp is another significant measure of the "Exercise for Health, Muscles Must Be Lost" cross-disciplinary screening and prevention initiative of the Sports Health Branch. It is an important practice of the sarcopenia screening and prevention work going down to the grassroots community level, and also marks the official rooting of this national prevention and control initiative at the community level in the Beijing area. In the future, the Sports and Health Branch will continue to focus on the health needs of the elderly at the grassroots level. From daily health monitoring, chronic disease management to specialized rehabilitation intervention, it will build a comprehensive and professional health protection network, making the concept of scientific health care deeply rooted in people's hearts. Under professional protection, every elderly person can maintain muscle vitality and enjoy a healthy and happy old age. Contribute positive forces to the development of the cause of healthy aging.
