Recently, the first event of the "Move for Health, Muscles Must Be Lost" cross-disciplinary prevention and treatment action for frailty and sarcopenia screening organized by the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics was successfully held in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This event is guided by the Chinese Geriatrics Society and supported by the Health Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is initiated by the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society in collaboration with the Inner Mongolia Geriatrics Regional Medical Center and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Hospital. It focuses on the early screening, hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, and cross-disciplinary collaborative management of sarcopenia and frailty, injecting strong impetus into the construction of "Healthy Inner Mongolia". Nearly 300 representatives from medical institutions, community health service centers and elderly care institutions at all levels in the district, including medical staff, rehabilitation therapists and nutritionists, participated in the training and practical exercises.

At the opening ceremony, leaders and experts from all levels gathered together to discuss the development of the elderly health cause. Professor Hu Yixin, executive vice president of the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the executive director of this project, pointed out that the project aims to build a localized prevention and treatment system and a three-level linkage model, promoting the effective implementation of early screening, hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, and cross-disciplinary management for sarcopenia. Currently, it has attracted more than 150 network units to join. On behalf of President Fan Li of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and President Dong Birong of the Sports and Health Branch, she expressed sincere gratitude to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for taking the lead in launching the first stop of the prevention and treatment action.

Qi Bo, director of the Health Care Bureau of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and vice president of the Autonomous Region People's Hospital, emphasized that the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia is not only an excellent entry point and breakthrough for the construction of the geriatric medicine discipline, but also a key action to promote the connotation construction of the geriatric medicine discipline in our region and make up for the shortcomings in the development of specialized departments. It is a concrete practice of implementing the "Healthy Inner Mongolia" strategy.

Wu Ying, director of the Health Care Center of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Hospital, emphasized in her speech that sarcopenia and frailty have become key factors affecting the quality of life of the elderly. Especially in special regions such as pastoral and agricultural areas, the differences in nutritional structure, lifestyle and screening methods make it even more necessary to establish a localized and systematic prevention and treatment system.

Professor Hao Haiyan, Director of the Aging Department of the Health Commission of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, pointed out that the current aging process of the population is continuously accelerating. Sarcopenia, as a highly prevalent degenerative disease among the elderly, poses higher requirements for the public health service system. This training course is deeply rooted in the grassroots level. It not only helps popularize knowledge on the prevention and treatment of sarcopenia but also enables a large number of grassroots medical staff and elderly health practitioners to master the key points of prevention and treatment of sarcopenia and improve their diagnosis and treatment capabilities.

During the event, the expert team conducted systematic training and practical teaching on aspects such as screening and assessment of sarcopenia and frailty, nutritional intervention, exercise rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up. Director Zou Yanhui from the People's Hospital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, under the title of "Exploration of the Community-Tertiary Hospital Management Model for Sarcopenia", elaborated in detail on the construction experience of the red, yellow and green three-level referral mechanism based on risk stratification and the multi-disciplinary joint diagnosis and treatment (MDT) process, providing scientific guidance for grassroots practice.

During the practical operation session, the trainees were divided into groups to carry out standardized screening operations such as grip strength tests, sit-up tests, step speed measurements, and calf circumference measurements. They also experienced the entire process of digital health management by combining smart bracelets, portable grip strength trainers and other devices. Remote experts from Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Shanxi Provincial Geriatric Hospital also shared cases and provided technical guidance on the closed-loop management of "grassroots - provincial - leading tertiary hospitals" via video link.

This event innovatively set up a community screening simulation session. Medical staff demonstrated the use of scales and ring tests to conduct rapid initial screening of the elderly, and combined with AI models to generate assessment reports, achieving precise referrals. Experts exchanged views on topics such as sarcopenia management, nutritional strategies, resistance training, and smart diagnosis and treatment. Experts from Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Hospital presented individualized prescription formulation based on body composition analysis, providing replicable and scalable experiences for grassroots practice. At the graduation ceremony, the trainees were awarded certificates of completion. They all expressed that through systematic learning, they had mastered the core technologies of screening and intervention proficiently and would actively promote the construction of the local sarcopenia prevention and treatment network.

The "Enjoy Healthy Muscle, Don't Miss It" screening interdisciplinary prevention and treatment initiative was jointly initiated by President Fan Li and President Dong Birong. The event in Inner Mongolia marks the shift of sarcopenia prevention and treatment from training to systematic action. Professor Hu Yixin introduced that the project will be guided by the construction goals in the future. It will combine the unique characteristics and actual needs of different regions and network units, actively work with various units to explore localized solutions, deeply explore suitable models for talent training, and carefully plan from the perspective of the way health science popularization work is carried out. At the same time, explore effective cooperation paths in the field of clinical research. At the same time, actively carry out standardization construction and the compilation of guidelines and consensus, determine the work priorities based on the different characteristics of each unit, and thereby promote the steady progress of all project work from all aspects and multiple perspectives.
