In response to the call of "Healthy China" and to promote the popularization of scientific fitness concepts, on November 30th, during the 4th Academic Conference of the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Geriatrics Society and the 2nd Academic Conference on Wearable Technology and Artificial Intelligence Promoting the Sports Health of the Elderly in 2025, under the guidance of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, The second "Academician and Expert Fitness Run" health run event, hosted by the Sports and Health Branch, kicked off with great enthusiasm in Xiaotaoyuan Park, Nanjing, China. This event is themed "Experts Run with You - Technology Empowering 3 Kilometers". Vice President Huang Guozhi and Vice President Bao Jimin of the Sports and Health Branch, Director Wang Fang from Beijing Hospital, Professor Dai Jiansong from Nanjing Sport University, and Director Jiang Haiyang from the General Hospital of the Eastern Theater Command are present. More than 30 experts from the fields of sports medicine, physical education and scientific research, including Deputy Director Ru Zhitao of the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led the race in person. Nearly 100 sports enthusiasts participated. With the help of smart sports equipment, they experienced the new model of "technology + sports" in an immersive way and felt the charm of scientific fitness in energetic running.

Experts lead the way to set benchmarks, and scientific warm-up builds a solid safety defense line
At the beginning of the event, Professor Dai Jiansong and Director Wang Fang led all the participants to carry out special warm-up exercises. When doing wrist loops, the range of motion should be moderate. When warming up the knees, it is necessary to combine flexion, extension and rotation to avoid sports injuries. Professor Dai demonstrated the standard movements while explaining the key points through a wireless microphone. According to the physical characteristics of participants of different age groups, he particularly emphasized the differentiated techniques for knee joint protection and muscle activation for middle-aged and elderly people.

After the warm-up session, the race officially started with the order given by Vice President Huang Guozhi. During the leading process, experts observed the participants' running postures in real time and promptly corrected problems such as hunchback and heavy landing. "When running, the core should be tightened and the center of gravity should be moved forward when the soles of the feet touch the ground. This can not only save energy but also reduce the impact on the ankle joint." Professional guidance left many first-time participants exclaiming that they had "gained a lot".

Technology empowers fully controlled intelligent devices to safeguard scientific movements
The most prominent feature of this event lies in the in-depth integration of technological elements. With the support of all sectors, the Sports and Health Branch has equipped participants with smart sports bracelets. These bracelets can not only display real-time data such as heart rate and calorie consumption, but also connect to the event's exclusive mini-program via Bluetooth. When a participant's heart rate exceeds the safety threshold during the event, the wristband will immediately sound an alarm and send a warning message. On-site volunteers will also promptly step forward to offer adjustment suggestions. After the event, a screenshot of the on-site data from the expert was taken, allowing participants to have a more scientific understanding of the sports data, exercise scientifically and healthily.

The "Academician and Expert Run with You" event is a featured activity of the annual academic conferences of the Sports Health Branch of the Chinese Society of Geriatrics. This year's event combines expert guidance, technological equipment and the sports needs of the elderly. Through the personal demonstrations of experts, it breaks the misunderstanding that "the elderly cannot run or dare not run". In the future, the Sports and Health Branch will launch more technological fitness activities, enabling every participant to gain health through exercise and helping more people develop scientific exercise habits.
